Activity 3 Answer the following questions. 1. Identify the different landmarks in the life of Jose Rizal.  DAPITAN CITY (Rizal’s Exile in Dapitan)  RIZAL SHRINE in CALAMBA, LAGUNA  Our Lady of Holy Rosary Cathedral in Dipolog City  BANTAYOG, DAET, CAMARINES NORTE  PACO PARK, MANILA  LUNETA PARK, MANILA  FORT SANTIAGO, MANILA  SAN FERNANDO RAILWAY STATION, PAMPANGA  MADRID  PARIS, FRANCE  GERMANY 2. Discuss why these were the choices made.  DAPITAN CITY (Rizal’s Exile in Dapitan) I choose this place because this is where Jose Rizal exiled. As he was staying at Dapitan, he was able to help farmers, fisherman, and children. He also built a clinic to help people with eye condition. And he Josephine Bracken, his last love.  RIZAL SHRINE in CALAMBA, LAGUNA I choose this place because this is the birthplace of our national hero. This is where his principles and ideals were shaped and molded. This is where little Pepe heard Ang Kwento ng Gamu-Gamo from his mother, Doña Teodora. The actual house is now just a replica of the Rizal Ancestral House since the original one was destroyed during World War II. The house has been converted to a museum which is open to the public from Tuesdays to Saturdays, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM with a 12:00 NN to 1:00 PM lunch break

 .Our Lady of Holy Rosary Cathedral in Dipolog City

I choose this place because aside from this is my hometown, one of the memorable thing for Rizal also happened here as he designed the Cathedral’s altar. The pattern was based on that of San Ignacio Church in Manila. Outside the church, visitors may explore the Plaza Magsaysay.

 BANTAYOG, DAET, CAMARINES NORTE I choose this place for the reason that this is where the first monument built in honor of our national hero. Built in 1898, two years after his death, the shrine is a 20-ft is composed of a three-tiered stone pylon.  PACO PARK, MANILA I choose this place because this is where our National Hero buried. After he was executed on December 31, 1896, his body was brought to San Juan de Dios Hospital, then to his original burial place, an unmarked grave at the farthest area of Paco Cemetery or what is now popularly known as Paco Park. His family found it difficult to trace Rizal’s grave, but was later located with the help of the caretaker. Rizal’s initials in reverse, RPJ, were then marked.  LUNETA PARK, MANILA I choose this place because it has a significant event for all the Filipinos. In the morning of December 30, 1896, this place witnessed the execution of Jose Rizal. This event ignited bigger revolts against the Spanish colonizers that time. To the date, the park has been one of the most famous parks, not just in the Philippines, but all over Asia. During holidays, the park is filled with families who enjoy various activities and attractions in the place. Kilometer zero is also located here, the point of reference in determining distances from Manila.  FORT SANTIAGO, MANILA This is one of the most remarkable place for Jose Rizal because this is where he was imprisoned before he was executed in Luneta. As written in the marker in Rizal’s prison cell, after the reading of the court sentence at 6:00 AM on the 29th of December, he was kept in an improvised chapel until his

execution on the 30th. This is where he wrote Mi Ultimo Adios, his last farewell.  SAN FERNANDO RAILWAY STATION, PAMPANGA I choose this place because this is where meet the new members of La Liga Filipina.  MADRID I choose Madrid because a lot of achievement was accomplish by Rizal. On November 3. 1882, he enrolled at the Universidad Central De Madrid with the following courses: Medicine, Philosophy, Letters. He also took courses at the academy of San Carlos with the courses of Painting and sculpture, and Languages: French, German, English. And 2 private lessons at the hall of sanz and carbonell: shooting and fencing. He joined the Circulo Hispano Filipino. He also joined Freemasonry with his masonic name”Dimasalang.”And he wrote the first half of Noli Me Tangere from 1884-1885.  BERLIN, GERMANY I choose Berlin, Germany as one of Rizal’s landmark because this is where he made the final revision of the novel “Noli Me Tangere.” On March 29. 1887 the novel was finally printed....
