DISCUSS THE ROLES OF A TRAINER ROLES OF A TRAINER The role of a trainer is to develop a competency and skill sets in an individual to perform his/her job effectively and efficiently in the work place. The trainer should communicate to the trainees about what is expected out of training in a simple and professional way. Training on the other hand is the act or process of increasing the knowledge and skills of an employee for doing a particular job.

1. To design. As a trainer I must be a designer. I will introduce adequate materials, to design training manuals and learning materials and the training programs. 2. Another role of a trainer is to organize. As a trainer I will have to learn about participants and place of the training. Before training, the trainer will prepare materials and arrange the training work. During training process, as a trainer I will take care of the trainees and training resources. After training, the trainer will take all the remaining items to their respective places. 3. Training of New Employees. A trainer reviews the employees’ qualifications and identifies their strengths and weaknesses. Based on the results, they determine how to integrate the employee to the company. They also determine what type of training an employee needs to develop the right skills and knowledge for the job. 4. Development of Training Programs. A trainer supervises the developing training programs to enhance the performance of the organization. They also keep a watch on the production of training materials such as manuals, course materials, videos and other tools for much

effective training sessions. They schedule the in-house programs to boost their workplace performance. 5. Evaluation. A trainer has to keep the records for existing training programs to observe where the improvements are needed. They also analyze whether the sessions are helpful for the workers to improve their performances or not. They also get to meet their employees to answer questions that arise from training or workplace. 6. Report to Management. Trainers meet with the management department regularly to report on the progress of training programs and to update them if there is an issue. They also suggest the adequate training budget and areas where more resources are needed. In addition to all this, a trainer updates everyone with the new technologies and tools in their area of development. This also lets management know if the company needs to update its training programs. 7. Reviewing. As a trainer, you will have to review the former training programs and come up with an effective training schedule. Thereafter you have to choose relevant training programs that will be suitable for use. You need to conduct the actual training session. 8. To guide. As a trainer, you need to take the role of a guider by equipping the trainees with various ways to cope up with changes e.g population and technological changes. 9. To present. As a trainer, you will have to conduct the training sessions. You will define what training is to the trainees, why the training is being carried out, you will have to structure the presentation. As a trainer you will have to inspire, engage the trainees. 10. To lead. A trainer has to be a leader. Confident to put and present their work well so that the trainees will get what is required 0f them. The trainer must be able to react positively in

difficult situations e.g when there is noise during presentation. The trainer will have to manage the work of the training group.
