Geography of russia...

Description

Sanampreet Sandhu Dr. Orf, GEOG10 15 October 2017 Word count: 915 Russia google earth assignment As I am looking through google maps there are so many different things I want to see. The list of places I want to visit start with the Trans-Siberian railroad, Vladivostok, Saint Petersburg, and Moscow just to make a few! Overall from what I’ve seen, Russia is a beautiful county. Although it is very poor and standards of living are low, the architecture is so magnificent you can’t really compare it to anywhere else! Trans-Siberian railroad When I looked at the railroad on google earth I thought wow is that maybe a highway? But then when I looked closer I noticed it was a railroad, pictures further confirmed my superstition. for those who don’t know that Trans-Siberian Railroad or railway whichever you prefer to call it, almost makes its way all the way across Russia, the whole country. It is the longest rail roach in the country at a whopping 5700 miles! While it would take you 152 hours to ride it is definitely something at intrigues me and I would love to ride it while stopping for mini vactations along the way. Furthermore, it will take me to one of the port citie know as Vladivostok which is absolutely beautiful and I would love to see it! As I have said in previous assignments I have a thing for water and nature so the fact that this railroad will take me sight seeing and at the end will give me a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean is something I am definitely sold on!

Vladivostok I took a peak at the last stop of the railroad and was quite taken with Vladivostok. All I saw were mountains and water/bays. It is so close to both North Korea and China. While I can’t go to north Korea I would love to make a pit stop in China and then make my way back. I’m not sure if that is allowed but I looked at China a little on good earth and I find it beautiful and would love to visit one day! Traveling to China for a day or two while on this pretend vacation is definitely something I would look into. From google earth I can tell this city is full of Russian

culture and full of concerts that highlight the Russian culture! From my googl search I found that this city puts on many theatre shows and museums fully encapsulating the culture of Russia and what it means to be Russian. I also have a thing for parks and while on google earth I saw some of the most beautiful parks. Definitely would love for vladistcok to be my first stop and last stop, not sure if anything can top it!

Saint Petersburg Also known as Leningrad, I have learned about this city in so many different history class s throughout my life that it is forever on the list of places that I want to visit in the duration of my life. The architecture is unimagaincale, much lik Moscow their cathedrals are magnificently designed and so artfully painted you could stare at them for days. While the homeless population

in major cities like these is huge and is a problem that needs to be dealt with, the city is beautiful, yet I believe it isn’t being used for its whole potential. Saint Petersburg is Russia’s second laregest city and was foudn d by Tsar Peter the Great which is why it is so preserved to this day! It has the most spectacular surroundings from what I’ve seen on google earth, it is located on the neva river which if you follow it leads in into the gulf of finland(another country I would love to visit) and then into the Baltic Sea what a sight to see! Pictures just don’t do it justice!!

Moscow Moscow is a must see! It is the capital of Russia for a reason! Moscow is by far the most important city in Russia and not because the government revolves around that city, although with the current political situation in Russia its a great city to visit and fully understand the politics of Russia. The demographic and population in Moscow is huge, it has more than 12 million people most of which have spectacular talents. The people of Moscow are not only artistic but are very smart too! From designing some of the most beauftul historic churches to some of the most intricate ballet performances, the people of Moscow are what truly make the city so beautiful! Moscow is mainly known for their onion shaped domes that cover their historic churches, which is what I really want to see as I have seen it for years in my history textbooks and in movies! Moscow is also just so full of culture and history from the Lenin and salon periods that it has to be a place i visit on my virtual vacation!

Overall from my assignment and tour of Russia through google earth I am 100% sure I want to visit it in the future! My dad is very much into history so it is definitely a place I would

visit with him! Not only is this country beautiful but it is full of history! However, with such poor standards of living it would be hard to explore without feeling bad for the people which is why it would make for a great place for mission trips!...
