Scoring Systems Football Steven Ajayi Scoring systems is important in football because it keeps track of the scoring matches. Football is probably one of the easiest sports to keep track of score this is because it isn’t as fast paced as other sports for example basketball. Football is a quite slow-paced sport. In football all sports are worth the same amount of points which is one, no matter what type of shot where it hast been taking and the technique used to perform the shot all shots are worth 1 point. Leagues in football operate by the point systems. This system operates like this, for each team that wins they receive 3 points in the league while they receive 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. And at the end of the season the team with the most points win the league. But at the end of the season if teams draw on points the winners will be decided on goal difference. An example of when this occurred is during the 2011-12 premier league season when Manchester City and Manchester United were in the title race and they were drawing on points but since Manchester City had a superior goal difference the won the league. 2-Legged Scoring Systems In football some competitions and tournaments use 2-legged scoring systems so that they could get a result of 2 games so both teams get to play a match at their own stadium. This action would allow both teams to experience home advantage and away disadvantage. Some competitions don’t use 2 legged for example the FA Cup use the draw system and the World Cup only play one Leg to determine knockout in knockout stages. And they play the teams in their group stage once. The reason Home advantage and Away disadvantage is not considered for the world cup is because the tournament is held in one country so therefore only one country have home advantage. Champions League and Europa League The Champions League is considered the best competition for European football clubs and people even consider it as one of the best club competitions in the World while others say that it is the best club competition in the world. The Europa League is a competition for the Europe's

finest upcoming clubs while the Champions League is for the elite teams. Both of these competitions are hosted by UEFA. Both of these competitions operate by 2 legged matches and by aggregate. And both of these competitions are the only competitions in Europe that use Away Goals. The Aggregate Scoring System operate by adding the scores over the 2 legs together and the team with the highest amount of goals scored are usually the winners. And in these European Competition the Away Goals would come into effect. Away Goals only come into effect when both teams draw over 2 legs and the team with the most away goals after 2 legs go through the next round. Goal Line Technology Scoring Systems are now being improved in football with the usage of the latest technology. Goal Line Technology was introduced to make the game fairer and to also give the correct decisions. Not all leagues approve the usage of Goal Line Technology and VAR. Goal Line Technology would detect if the ball has passed the line in a sufficient amount to be counted as a goal. An example of a situation that would've been clarified as a goal with the usage of Goal Line Technology would've been Frank Lampard’s long shot against Germany in 2010. Goal Line Technology has been used to clarify a large number of goal unclarity In football since it was introduced....
