SHORT STORY USING PHRASAL VERBS
Harry just got back from his afternoon grammar class. His stomach was grumbling, so he decided to look out for the nearest café to eat lunch. It took him about a 5-minute drive to find a place to eat. He could not hold back anymore because his hunger was overtaking his mind. He went ahead inside the café, forgetting to bring his wallet. He entered the door. The line was not that long so he did not have to hang in line for a long time. As soon as it was his time to order up his food, he decided to go ahead and order up food more than what was necessary to fill up his hunger. “That will be twenty-five ringgits and twenty cents.”, the cashier said. Harry checked out his pocket and freaked out when he found out that he probably had left his wallet inside of his car. Lucky for him, a familiar friend of his was standing behind her. Nelly, his own fellow classmate. Nelly with a smirk on her face cut in between Harry and the cashier. “I’ll pay for him.”, Nelly interrupts. Harry was shocked that he just figured out that Nelly was standing behind him all along. Harry and Nelly then sit together at the same table later to eat lunch. They both had a great laugh at lunch about what happened earlier. Harry stated that he was probably too hungry to realize that Nelly was standing behind him this whole time. He promised to pay back the money he owed for his lunch. But Nelly refused and convinced him that it was fine for her. It was nice for them to catch up on each other’s life because the previous week was a hectic examination week. Harry and Nelly have always got along very well, they are basically like siblings at this point. Harry told Nelly that next time she’s facing troubles, she could count on him if there are any problems. It is what friends are for; to look out for each other. (340 words)...
