Materials and Requirements: ○ The book Chameleon, Chameleon b y Joy Crowley ■ Here is a link to a video of someone reading Chameleon, Chameleon b y Joy Crowley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Dc4kfiT4N0 ○ The printable coloring page at the bottom of this document ○ Crayons for each child

1. Have the children circle around you on the floor and read the book Chameleon, Chameleon b y Joy Crowley. This is a book that tells the story of a chameleon who is looking for a new tree home. On his journey, he runs into different animals that startle him. When he gets to the tree, he meets another chameleon who is afraid of him. The chameleons communicate through changing their colors to express their emotions. 2. After you have read the book, start a discussion about the emotions of the chameleons in the story. Some questions you could ask to guide the discussion are: a. What emotions were the chameleons feeling? Why did they feel this way? b. How did the chameleons express their emotions? c. Have you ever felt any of the emotions that the chameleons felt? d. How do you express your emotions? 3. Move the class to tables where they can color. Give each child the printable coloring page of a chameleon and a variety of crayons. 4. Ask the children to think of something that happened that day that made them feel an emotion. (Example: feeling sad when they saw their friend didn’t come to school, feeling angry when they didn’t get their way, feeling happy when they had a delicious lunch)

5. Ask the children to pretend they are a chameleon and think about what colors they would show while feeling this emotion. The children should color the chameleon the way they think a chameleon would change to express the emotion....
