FRANCISCO, Cazandra Jewel Y. The Manila Bay white sand project made a lot of noise these past few days. Many netizens are complaining in the said project. According to Roque, the white sand beach in Manila Bay can actually help improve the public's mental health as it will distract them from the global health crisis. Because of this, a lot of netizens took their vent on their social media accounts. They even made and use memes about the Manila Bay. According to Rappler the netizens took jabs at the government agency for what they considered a purely “aesthetic” move rather than a concrete solution to the environmental issues besetting Manila Bay. A lot of Netizens also questioned about the fund that the government used for this project. After the netizens found out that the budget allotted to this project is approximately 389 million pesos. A lot of people complained and gave their insights about it. Even Vice President Robredo called the move of Department of Natural Resources (DENR) Insensitive. "Napakainsensitive na gagawin mo yan sa height ng pandemic na ang daming nagugutom. Ang daming naghihirap, gagawin mo yung pag-beautify," she said, noting that the government had even reasoned earlier on that it was running out of funds for COVID-19 response. Which makes sense to me, instead of allotting a lot of money for that sand we could have used it to feed a lot of empty stomach. If the budget that the white sand in manila bay have used was given to the poorest households who were badly hit by the crisis it would help a lot of people. Why would they prioritize the white sand instead of prioritizing the health and empty stomach of the indigenous people? Harry Duque said that the White sand in Manila Bay could help a lot of people’s mental health which doesn’t really made sense to me, how can he assure that the white sand that they’ve used for Manila Bay can ease the Problem that the filipinos is facing right now? Aside from this the money could have helped the student who are facing a lot of problems in their studies, the students especially those who can’t cope up with the new normal. DepEd said that they could have used the 389 million pesos to buy gadgets for the student who don’t have access to technologies. Education Secretary Leonor Briones also says they would allot money towards the printing of modules, if the Department of Education had been given the budget. "

This Budget for Manila Bay’s white sand Project that caused 389 million Pesos could have helped a lot of in need, I could really get the government’s point that they want the Manila Bay clean and aesthetically pleasing but this is not the time to do that. Our country is facing a lot of difficulties and Problems right now one of which is the Pandemic, the budget that we have for pandemic is one of our country’s debt. Another one is the kind of classes that the student anf teachers that is facing right now I’ve read a lot of complains regarding this due to slow internet connection and especially to the people who don’t have privileges. The government official should have focused to the huge problems that our country is currently facing right now instead of focusing to the minor once. If they really want Manila Bay to be aesthetically pleasing in the

eyes, they should have implement something else, something that will last forever not the white sad because that white sand won’t last long....
