Description

Enterprise Innovation and Markets SparkPLUS Student instructions ‘SPARK’ is an acronym for Self and Peer Assessment Kit. SPARK is an Online Peer Evaluation System developed and implemented by the University of Technology, Sydney and University of Sydney. SPARK enables online Peer Evaluation and scaling of assessment marks. It is currently used at 26 universities in Australia and internationally.

About SparkPLUS “Group projects aren't fair” is a frequent student response in higher education. Students also commonly complain about:  Equal marks for unequal contributions  'Free-riders' known also as 'social loafers' and 'passengers' not penalised  Better students inadequately rewarded and demotivate Group work is used to facilitate peer learning and encourage students to develop collaboration, crucial graduate attributes. Since assessment strongly influences learning, any course objective to improve peer learning and/or collaboration must have assessment that promotes it. Self and peer assessment is a valid solution for promoting these objectives and overcoming potential inequities of equal marks for unequal contributions. Group members are responsible for negotiating and managing the balance of contributions and then assessing whether the balance has been achieved. SPARKPLUS is a web-based self and peer assessment kit. It enables students to confidentially rate their own and their peers' contributions to a team task or individual submissions on a secure server.

SparkPLUS and Enterprise Innovation and Markets ALL students must complete evaluations for himself/herself and each of his/her group members. Individual marks will not be made available until evaluations have been completed by all group members. To get started you must do the following: 1.
