2 StrengthsQuest Reflection Paper My StrengthsQuest results presented my top five dominant themes of talent and strengths being harmony, consistency, restorative, empathy, and learner. These five skills that I embody did not come as a shock to me because I can in fact see through past experiences that I do value and preform these skills in my everyday life in both scholastic and person situations. The two themes that I believe to be very true to myself would be restorative and learner, which I think the two can go hand in hand. For as long as I can remember I have always enjoyed aspects of knowledge and learning new things whether it be random fun facts or researching a given topic, I love to know how things work and ease my eager sense of curiosity of learning about the world around me. Another part that inherently feeds my own sense of needing to understand or know about new things is not only do I want to know how things work but also why, such as prior background information, given history, research etc., because it allows me to feel as if I could solve or decipher potential problems in my future based on my own knowledge. The theme of harmony tells me that I value areas of agreement, compromise, and understanding rather than be in situations of conflict or despair. This is which is also very true to myself and how I choose to go about things in my life as I have never enjoyed the aspect of argument, fighting, conflict, or friction. I pride myself on being a very honest and understanding person and a part of that requires that I go about terms of conflict with an open mind in order to put myself in another’s shoes to see their viewpoint rather than solely focusing on my own opinion because people are allowed to have differing views. Following harmony, is the theme of consistency. Consistency meaning that it is very important that I have a good sense of balance and fairness in my life. Not only in my own personal life, but also in what is going on around me in other people’s lives as well. Since I was

3 little, I have never been good at accepting change or entering a new chapter in my life with excitement and grace rather than fearing the unexpected. However, the aspect of consistency is shown throughout life through many ways, one being achieving success through the act of hard work instead of using self-connections or advantages to get you ahead. A like what I briefly discussed in the introduction, the theme of restorative is based on problem solving and the ability to work through an issue while pinpointing what is wrong and how to resolve it. This is something that I have always embodied as it has never felt natural to me to leave a problem unsolved without knowing exactly what happened and why and how it is fixed. Prior to this I wrote that off being a part of my creative ideal way of thinking by the means of always finding a solution on my own and in my own way. The theme of empathy is something I have always known that I carried in a large way. My own personal intuition of myself and others around me has always been a strength of mine and something I really value of my character. Similar to harmony, it is important to learn the skill that is empathy because it allows you the chance to see things from all separate ways of perspective which ultimately allows you an opportunity to expand your own knowledge while also being able to understand why another party may feel or view something differently than you do. However, I do believe this is a skill that mainly comes naturally upon yourself and can be difficult to learn if you do not originally obtain it. The last theme of being a learner, is also a big part of myself and how I go about things in my life every day. Learning can only build a person up by expanding one’s own knowledge and education that can be used in separate situations throughout life. Being a learner can be boring to some if it is over something that is not of interest however, I appreciate the act of learning things of all sorts where you could even discover something new to enjoy by learning more about it.

4 All five of these themes are and will be strengths I will practice throughout my entire life through both personal and business aspects. Harmony and empathy allow me to view the world through multiple perspectives which provides me with a better understanding to an individual’s feelings and thought process along with being able to draw my own conclusions on the given concept. This is something that pertains to the ideal of consistency as well by the use of practicing balance and fairness when working toward accomplishment which will only make any potential success that much more rewarding. Lastly, learner and restorative are great skills to obtain and can get a person far in one’s personal and professional life. This is shown in workplaces every day through problem-solving, troubleshooting, and finding solutions to a vast area of problems. Each of these five strengths are great individually however, the embodiment of all five together mixes the perfect cocktail for hard earned success, respect, and achievement.
