5-3 Final Project Two: Selection of a Struggling Company (Non-graded) Struggling company: Kodak Photography Jilissa Gregory OL-215 September 28, 2021 -

The company I have selected for project two is the Kodak photography company. Kodak was founded in 1888 by George Eastman and Henry A. Strong in Rochester, NY. The company was known for its very well distinguish camera and film products that were used to capture memorable moments in life. For years, Kodak was at the top of the photography chain until the company filed for bankruptcy back in January of 2021. This happened after the company’s intention to spend $3.4 billion to shrink and restructure failed. The change with new technology was also a major key factor to the company’s failed continued success. Antonio Perez, who was appointed as the company’s new CEO in 2005, has seen the downfall of the company’s success and legacy and had to think of a new strategy to still uphold the last bit of success that was left within the company. Now in 2021, Kodak plans to embrace the new technology that is taking over the photography industry and wants to develop touchscreen cameras for smartphones, smart packaging and new graphics to capture their audience again. Of course, this means that unfortunately the traditional kodak camera and film is no longer existent. Throughout this project, my plan is to gather all information that will be a pure explanation on how Kodak failed to take on the new tech industry and will develop a new strategy that could lead the company back to success again.
