Conducting a SWOT Analysis, Considering the Competition, and Making a Proposal Situational assessments are completed to analyze the organization’s environment and the organization itself. The situational assessment is completed by using a SWOT analysis. This analysis examines the organization's strengths and weaknesses as well as any opportunities and threats that can impact the organization’s future (Berkowitz, 2017). When looking at Cleveland’s Clinic website, one strength is the organization of the website. The services, departments, and institutes are easily accessible when wanting to find out more information about the services each department provides. However, in this paper, we are going to look at the fertility center that Cleveland Clinic has and complete a SWOT analysis of the services the clinic provides. Strengths Having a child is an important next step for many couples. However, there are complications that can arise when trying to get pregnant. Both men and women can experience infertility and may have to find an infertility clinic to receive support with getting pregnant. However, a service that the Cleveland infertility clinic provides is treatment of infertility in men and andrology or the study of male specific conditions and diseases that involve the male reproductive system and urological problems. Another strength about the fertility clinic is that they provide in and out of state services to individuals. This is done by monitoring the fertility treatments for both in and out of state patients, ensuring that they have a stress-free experience and the patients that live outside of Cleveland can enjoy the services provided with minimal number of visits to the Cleveland area. Lastly, they are one of the largest in vitro fertilization clinics in the state, but they also provide a wide range of services other than in-vitro fertilization that are much simpler and uses advanced technologies. (Cleveland Clinic, 2021).

The services mentioned are strengths for the Cleveland clinic organization because the main goal is to emphasize one’s ability to have access to treatment, receive personal attention to ensure that the treatment provided caters to the individual by providing a holistic approach. The emotional support and attentiveness provided by the staff can potentially bring in more individuals to the clinic who are in or out of the state. Using word of mouth to tell others about the services received from a specific organization reflects the quality of services being provided and received. The mission for the clinic is to use innovative technology to create a different environment so that the clinical outcomes are more successful. This can help the clinic see where there needs to be improvements and what form of treatment may work for a specific patient. Weaknesses Although services can be provided to patients in and out of state, one must think about whether one’s insurance will cover out of state services. When services are not covered, and you do not qualify for any assistance that is available to you, then one is hit with a huge bill. Another weakness of the organization is the massive health system that they have. When looking at their website, the many services that were advertised became a little overwhelming and complex. Lastly, the services that are provided by this healthcare system can become expensive and negatively impact individuals who seek treatment from their facilities. These weaknesses can hurt the facility by conveying to future patients that due to their healthcare system being advanced and complex, the services that are being provided can become costly.

Opportunities

Opportunities that could help the Cleveland Clinic health system is to improve its financial assistance programs to all individuals who are in or out of state. This gives others the opportunity to utilize the Cleveland health system without having to worry about the financial burden. Second, opportunity is to continue merging with other hospitals to increase services that are provided to diverse populations outside of the state. Continued growth can increase additional specialities that they can provide accessible to patients. Enhancing patient experience to increase positive reviews can cause former patients to tell others about the quality of services received from the Cleveland Clinic health system. The fertility clinic with the Cleveland Clinic emphasizes using other simpler services for infertility patients. This approach could be more beneficial with focus on the person. Threats Although individuals can seek treatment at the Cleveland Clinic, paying for services and traveling there can deter individuals from wanting to seek treatment from their healthcare system. Another threat would be enduring more competition after acquiring and merging with other hospitals. Lastly, healthcare is an evolving profession that has changes to regulation as time goes on. Hospitals must make sure they stay in compliance with all regulations that has been set forth by the Joint Commission. That involves staying up to date with any changes and remaining in compliance. Additional Service The additional service that I would market to others is a new financial assistance program that will bring in more profits to the clinic by ensuring that more individuals can pay for the services that were rendered. This program would be available to anyone in and out of state. For

individuals that live in Ohio, the qualifications would be a little more lenient than individuals that live out of state. Competing Service Mayo Clinic offers a financial assistance program regardless of one’s ability to pay. Their financial assistance program is successful because their motto is “the need of the patient comes first.” This slogan alone can persuade someone to seek treatment with their healthcare system because Mayo Clinic wants to ensure that individuals are being treated and if they have a financial hardship they are there to provide assistance.
