ABOUT THIS UNIT

The aim of this unit is to provide students with a critical understanding of the intellectual foundations of the study of management. The unit will provide the opportunity to analyse how the solutions to management 'problems' have deve under different conditions throughout the nineteenth and twentieth century. The unit also explores how management practice influences, and is influenced by, the external environment. This will involve examining how managerial action impacts on and is shaped by the environment, through a consideration of globalisation, ethics, social responsibility and social and cultural context of management.

Unit development in response to student feedback

Every trimester, we ask students to tell us, through eVALUate, what helped and hindered their learning in each Unit. Yo strongly encouraged to provide constructive feedback for this Unit when eVALUate opens (you will be emailed a link).

We take your feedback and evaluation very seriously and at the end of this unit you are strongly encouraged to comple Student Evaluation form. Please provide constructive feedback.

For example we have changed the due date of the A2 Team Assessment due to student feedback in which students ask be able to meet other students earlier in the trimester.

All ratings and comments are read and given careful consideration following completion of each trimester and inform t changes which we have introduced or may introduce in subsequent trimesters.
