TASK 5 - PAGES 54-55 and TASK 6 - PAGE 66 (BSMA 2A_ELAIZA MARIE YNZON) 1) Describe the background of Rizal’s ancestry that might have contributed to his life and education. Rizal being in a privileged family, he had the chance to get education which few people can’t get because of financial instability. Rizal's life was also influenced by his loving and caring large family, as well as his passion for nature, as shown by the beautiful view that surrounds their home, and his understanding of religions, which was taught to him by his mother. Rizal's ancestors have been famous since the beginning of his life. It is very common for them to attend a prestigious school in Biñan and excel in Latin and Spanish, especially Jose Rizal, who was recognized for his great potential at a young age. 2) Compare the experiences of Rizal as a student in Ateneo Municipal, UST and in Madrid. Rizal, who has been a genius since he was a kid, has always been willing to learn new things. His first university, Ateneo, was where he pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree to express his passion for the arts and letters. He was initially behind in class relative to his peers, but thanks to his dedication to his studies, he was dubbed the Emperor for being the most outstanding individual in just a month and graduated with the highest distinction. He then went to UST to study medicine for his mother, but he did not participate as much in Ateneo. He traveled and studied French, English, and German at the Ateneo de Madrid. Rizal was considered to be a great student who, considering the challenges he faced, never gave up until he finished what he began. 3) Who were the important persons that influenced Rizal in his intellectual pursuits? Paciano, Rizal's brother, was a significant influence on his intellectual pursuits. He mentored Rizal throughout his life, and Rizal listened to him as if he were his second parent. His tutors had influenced his education as well, but Leon Monroy was someone who really educated him and sharpened his skills in Basic Latin, reading, and writing. Rizal's mother, Doña Teodora Alonso, was the most influential person in his academic pursuits among all the people who had been with him; through her guidance, Rizal developed his passion for all types of art and the beautiful nature that surrounded them. As she drew his attention to the world around him. 4) What were Rizal’s activities in Dapitan and their impact? For 3 years following Rizal's detention, Dapitan was his den. He continues to study medicine there, assisting people and treating their ailments, which is where he met his wife Josephine Bracken. During his stay, he built a number of projects, including schools, hospitals, a water irrigation system, and the installation of lampposts in every corner. Rizal's activities in Dapitan made him more active in his field, allowing him to support more people and improve Dapitan's situation. Rizal did not neglect his career in medicine and his artistic pursuits in painting, sculpture, sketching, and writing poetry. The large relief map of Mindanao throughout the plaza, which he uses in teaching Geography, is one project that has had an influence that is still in use nowadays. 5) How would you assess Rizal’s objection to the revolution? Rizal's opposition to the revolution was clearly to do the right thing, resulting in negotatiton rather than a war between the Spaniards and Filipinos. As to what Rizal intends to really do first is to educate his countrymen, the Indios, so that they can learn and understand what is going on, and then he wants the Filipinos to come together and redeem the land in a peaceful and orderly ways. His best weapons were his knowledge and skills, not the sharpest blades and weapons....
