Jose Rizal's key message in the letter was that he is certain that one day he would avenge Spaniards who exploited Filipinos who were victims of abuses and cruelties. Rizal's writings, especially his two novels, depict a wide range of abuses perpetrated by certain Spaniards towards Filipinos, and he promises that those who make mistakes will be punished, imprisoned, and executed as they deserve. 2) List two things in the letter that support Rizal’s main message. Revenge and justice are the two things that supports Rizal’s main message. 3) What does the letter tell you about nineteenth century Philippines? The Philippines were colonized by the Spanish in the 19th century, and they were forced to work as slaves in their own country.
