Description

Using a metaphor for teaching or teachers are helpful to give readers, parents or administrators an insight into what a teacher is exactly. I’ve spent many years creating my teaching philosophy and adjusting it as I learn and gain more experience. My teaching philosophy is “I believe each and every one of my students has the potential to bring something unique and special to my classroom. It is my job as an educator to help my students find what makes them, them. I will help my students discover who they are, and how to always express themselves”. It is extremely important to me to give my students a safe space where they feel comfortable enough to learn, question and express themselves. The metaphor that I believe reflects on my teaching philosophy is “As a teacher I am like a gardener and my students are like the flowers”. I feel like this best describes me as a teacher and relates to my teaching philosophy because as an early childhood teacher I come a cross many students (the flowers in the gardener) that have the potential to grow and bloom into beautiful, confident, and smart learners. I will do everything in my power to make sure they continue to grow throughout the school year. It is my job to create a space where students will explore new things, learn and discover what works best for them. Similar to what we have spoke about in module 1 and 2, each students is different and has different ways of learning and demonstrating their understanding of lessons. It is my job to make sue that I provide my students with the tools they need to be the best learners possible. I feel like by doing this I am giving my students the “water, soil and sunlight” that they need to grow ....
