NAME : MUHAMAD IZZAD BIN MUHAMAD ZALAN STUDENT ID : 2019728079 DISCUSSION : Based on the experiment, the material being used is the mild steel and Tensile Test is being conducted to achieve the objectives of determining the tensile properties of the mild steel subjected to the tensile loading being added. Next, the type of fracture can also be identified under the tensile loading. The stress and strain of the mild steel itself can be obtained. After the graph is plotted using the Stress-Strain graph, it is resulted that stress of the mild steel is directly proportional to the strain moving upwards. However, once the mild steel achieves the maximum point, the graph started to drop until the mild steel experience a failure. Precautions are also must be aware to avoid other errors such as human errors or parallax error. It is a must to follow other a correct steps or instructions so that these errors can be reduced. When making measurement on the sample, eyes must be perpendicular to the scale reading of the measurement to collect the right data. For example, it needs 2 or 3 decimals places so that the calculation will not be miscalculated and to prevent any misinterpretation of the data. By following the steps, the results obtained will be more precise without big difference in values between experimental and theoretical. For the type and surface texture of the specimen broken, the specimen is being measured such as length and diameter and is compared with the original length and its diameter. Hence, the length of mild steel increases while its diameter is decrease once it is broke and this shows that the mild steel is a ductile material. To proof that it is a ductile material, the stress-strain graph is being analyses. It increases perpendicular until it reaches the Yield strength and then it maintains constantly. After it hits the ultimate strength, the mild steel is started necking and faced fractured. This shows a slow deformation which indicates it faced a plastic deformation. The specimen is a dull and fibrous, but it does not affect anything in the Tensile Test.

CONCLUSION : Tensile test can be used to obtain information on the following types of properties such as elastic properties, plastic properties and also toughness. Many engineering applications that require high tensile strength normally uses mild steel. This is because of the structure of mild steel that can withstand high axial loads before fracture happen. This experiment gives close relationship of tensile strength to the theoretical data.-...
