Focus on: the strengths that the performer had, their design elements, the reaction they gained from the audience.

Prescriptive

A doctor giving a patient medicine so that they get better.

Focus on: ways they could improve and enhance their performance.

Descriptive

An author narrating what they saw (no judgement, no opinion, just observations).

Focus on: explaining what you saw and what you think it meant.

Evaluative

A teacher grading and giving a reason for that grade.

Focus on: selecting some aspects of their performance, grading it (meeting expectations, exceeding expectations) with a reason.

Motivational

A best friend trying to motivate their friend and make them feel good about themselves.

Focus on: the positives and making them want to perform and revise their work (*note this is different than simply focusing on strengths)...
