Description

The Curious Incidents in the World, Since the Modern-time Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had said "This world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes." In other words, this world is full of people who are not interested in observing obvious things. And this is how we can scarcely guess the end of Sherlock Holmes. But Christopher did. In other words, this world is full of meaningful things which nobody had ever observed because it looks obvious and has no need to be observed anymore. Yet, again, Christopher did see something in those obvious things that he had to observe. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is a suitable example of the curious world we are living; where we are surrounded with obvious things coming in a form of facts, ideals, and rules. When the one or a few like Christopher began to observe it, he was caught in the middle with the sentence of not being normal. We were born in the 20th century. The ages in the past have been called Baroque, Romantic, Renaissance, etc. But we are not named yet, the ages always be looked back upon the change before being named. But I would say we are modern. We were fed with facts that our ancestors had discovered centuries ago. We believe in reasons and see no point in questioning them. We were taught an ideal of being normal, and started calling those who do not follow the ideas, or question the facts a freak. Obvious things became the written rules stuck in our head; they are normal, perfect, and true by themselves. I do believe it. I have never realized how obvious things can be in various ways, not until I knew Christopher; the boy in the book of unconventionality. I dare you to say Christopher is normal. And I bet you cannot. And this is quite obvious. I would name some incidents that might make people consider him not normal, which are a lot. He loves his food the way parents love their baby; untouchable and no yellow allowed. He needs to be told or described what to do or what not to clearly; I mean that clearly. He greeted neighbor but did not wait for a tea she offered. He said doing sex instead of having sex. He loves prime number. He learnt to read people's emotions from emoticons. He counted his luck on the amount of red cars. And he likes maths (this is the strangest one to me). If he was born in the middle ages, he must have been considered a wizard and forced to drink poison. Fortunately, he was born in this age of modern, so he was a freak. I know he does not consist of normal thought, behaviour, or feeling that normal people are supposed to have. But what if we do not have such ideas of normality? With open-minded perspective, Christopher was just a person who observes obvious things, like Sir Arthur and Sherlock Holmes. He loves his food the way parents love their baby because parents loves their baby because it is difficult to get, hard to protect, and means to their future. Christopher has this kind of idea towards food; it is the evidence that says his father still loves him, he has to protect it from the yellow colour which brings bad luck, and he does not want any other (neither people nor food) to touch it. He always thinks of every single detail of things he had been told and things that possibly happen. He wants to be sure if he knows all you want him to know. He asks more because he thinks more. And he might see sex as an action that people only do to have baby. That would explain why he thinks sex goes with the verb do, because...
