The fall of the house of Usher The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe.

The fall of the house of Usher tells a story about two friends of childhood. The narrator, whose identity doesn't know and Roderick Usher. The last one write a letter to the narrator requesting for help. The narrator when arrives at his house is thunderstruck before the mansion, so creepy. Roderick Usher has an illness, he suffers hyper-sensitivity to light, sound, taste, and tactile sensations. One part of his illness is because his sister is also illness and he knows she's going to die soon. The other part is because the house is something strange. The unknown narrator tries to help him. One day his sister, as he had foretold, die. And both of them bury her near the house. One week after the burial of his lovely sister, the two friends were in the house, very frightened due to Usher's declaration. He says to his friend that his sister wasn't dead, she was alive because she suffered from catalepsy, and illness that makes people are died when they're not. It's a simple appearance. Suddenly his sister appears bloody and a string of supernatural things happen. The narrator get away from the house, and finally he see how the house crack and sink in a dark way.

The raven is a poem which made Allan Poe very famous in the literature. Tells a story of a lover who has lost his beloved, Lenore. A raven visit him in the middle of a painful night, which him is remembering Lenore. The raven only know to say “Nevermore”. At the beginning the lover feels interested in the talking animal but after listen so many times “Nevermore”, “Nevermore”, and “Nevermore” he changes his attitude. The final is that his soul is caught under the raven's shadow, and never will be free.

In my opinion I think if you want to scare people, you should be more macabre, I mean, try to exaggerate all until you have got goosebumps. If you feel the terror, the readers will feel the terror. However the history it's not bad, I like read something different, something which we haven't read yet, not historical accounts. Maybe I'm critic because I like terror novels and films, and this story doesn't make sense of horror over me. In The Raven poem, is a metaphor of the loneliness of the lover. The Raven not only seems to be a
