TRANSCRIPT Hello, my name is Katarina, I’m a Bachelor of Business student majoring in both management and marketing. Having both of these specialities could potentially enable me to secure a job position in the event industry which is what I have a passion for, more specifically joining the organisation of Diane Khoury Weddings and Events. A position in this organisation would be best suitable for my qualifications as I could potentially be a marketing promotor for the business as well as be a manager and overlook the running and framework of the business.

DK weddings and events is one of the most lauded event companies in the southern hemisphere, an organisation continuously aiming to achieve revolutionised luxury events ranging from styling, event coordination, concept design and floral displays. It is a small business, only beginning with Diane Khoury herself and expanding to a current staff total of 7. Although it is a fairly small business, its successes and achievements bring great satisfaction and positive testimonies which is why it is such a successful organisation. The DK team offers a range of an array of services including; personalised invitations, floral displays, concept styling, wedding planning, corporate and social planning.

DK is a perfect example of an operating virtual organisation design. Without working with vendors and other organisations, creating and planning events would not be possible and therefore the business will not thrive. A virtual organisation design involves an embedded complex network system in order for an organisation to perform at its best, in this case collaborating with competitors and other businesses are of great importance as the combined help proves great benefit rather than deficit to an organisation. For example, for DK events to produce successful events and floral designs, they seek the assistance of John Emmanuel floral events who is a separate business entirely. If not for the access to floral designs and flowers, DK would suffer a massive setback and not be able to fulfil their customer guarantee and create luxury styled events.

A great advantage of DK being a virtual organisation is that with its partnerships with other businesses, they are able to exploit favourable marketing gaps and provide services not yet offered e.g. hosting event seminars with an expert panel to teach individuals the design

TRANSCRIPT process and requirements/recommendations in creating successful events. So although the aim of DK is to create successful large events, it is also providing individuals with the same passion with great intel and advice. This organisational design is most effective for the DK organisation as the DK team itself has not been able to capably respond to pressures and setbacks, however through the joint partnerships with other organisations (John Emmanuel floral events, White Label Hire, Harbourside Decorators), they are able to achieve astonishing events sought out by many.

I have a great passion for organisation and achieving customer satisfaction which is why I strongly believe that I would thrive greatly in a position in this organisation. I have great enthusiasm to work for smaller businesses rather than large corporate organisations, and I see this position as more personally involved which means room for growth as an individual as there is more focus on individual performance. I would be eager to contribute my talents and proficiency in organisation towards the DK team, and I’d provide them details of myself having designed and planned a successful formal event when I was only 15, a great personal achievement in my career. My communication and interpersonal skills are exceptional and are reflected in my current work, this skill would be of great importance especially when having to communicate among different organisations affiliated with DK events which is why I believe they should hire me. A position in this organisation would be best suited for me and hopefully I am able to convince the DK team that my passionate work ethic, enthusiasm in the event industry and previous event experience are enough for me to be hired. If given a position I’d ensure the contribution of my talents and proficiency to the organisation and towards the team efforts.

I hope this presentation has given great insight into my chosen organisation, Diane Khoury wedding and events, and why I am best suited for a position in a virtually organised designed organisation....
