Kata Pengantar Pedoman Lambung 2016 - Kapal Domestik (Bag. 8, Jilid 1), bersumber dari Rules for Hull 2014 (Pt.1, Vol. II) yang disesuaikan dengan batas perairan Indonesia berdasarkan Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia nomor 51 tahun 2002 dan kondisi lingkungan perairan Indonesia hasil penelitian BKI Divisi Riset dan Pengembangan dengan judul “Define characteristic of ocean enviroment condition along Indonesia waterway for design and operation of ship and offshore floting (2014-2020)” yang masih terus dikembangkan. Terkait dengan aturan-aturan yang diadopsi dari persyaratan statutoria, pedoman ini mengambil referensi peraturan nasional dan internasional seperti Peraturan Menteri Perhubungan Nomor KM 3 tahun 2005, SOLAS, MARPOL dan lain-lain. Jika ada masukan ataupun komentar mengenai pedoman ini dapat disampaikan ke BKI melalui masukan teknik ke Divisi Riset dan Pengembangan (www.bki.co.id).
