Communication is where you and someone else are talking whether it be face to face Or through electronics like emailing or texting. Communication can also work in group Situations as well where each member would talk and everyone else listen and if Necessary reply so long as at least one is send info and at least once is receiving. 2. What are the major principles of communication, as outlined in this week’s class materials?

The principles to effective communication are process, content and context.

3. Why are these principles important to effectively communicating in the workplace?

They are important because they help us convey a message from the sender to the Receiver that can be understood and possible reply with feedback. Especially in the Workplace, we want to process an idea before you just say it and we want to create The content of the message and decide how to deliver the message via context. 4. Describe interpersonal communication, group communication, and public communication. a. How are these communication types different? b. How are they similar? c. How are these three communication types important in the workplace?

Interpersonal communication is usually between at least two people in a group that Like to disscuss personal things to eachother and not about the job at hand which can Cause issues with the rest of the group. While I guess it would be nice and helpful to Know your co workers more by personally interacting with them it can lead to bad Things such as a decrease in productivity and efficiency. Group communication is a bit Different from interpersonal and that is where it’s at least two people and they discuss About the groups intentions and goals, and they usually only discuss about the work That needs to be done for their group. Public communication is also a bit different this Would be more like a public speaking event were you would stand in front of an audience and

Give a speech or it could be as simple as talking to some people wherever. 5. Describe a scenario that took place either at work or in your personal life that touched on a task that was not carried through properly because of a lack of proper listening. What steps could have been taken to avoid the situation and end with the proper results?

One example, I was working as a stocker at a grocery store and I started to have this Pain in my wrist so I would tell management about it. I couldn’t lift anything over 10 Pounds for two weeks and I told them this so they let me go. But before they did they Offered me a job as a custodian which is a job that requires lifting as well which I Couldn’t do at the time so it felt like the manager wasn’t even listening to me. So of Course I declined it since I couldn’t do it at the time. The only thing that could’ve Helped during this is if the manager would even listen to me and my doctor about not Being able to lift.
