Week 4 - Corporate Culture In week 4, I learn about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). According to Kerfoot & Schmaus (n.d.), The corporate operators have some responsibilities that they need to follow regarding serving the community. Various types of models define CSR. The first one is the Economic Model in which the theme is to focus on being in the limits of the legal boundaries while maximizing the profit to the extent. This is like the utilitarian theory in which the goal is to have the best out at end regarding demolishing any law. There are several critiques which are undertaken by CSR as most company’s today are business oriented. They follow the CSR economic model concerning maximizing their profit regardless of the environmental effects. Companies use natural resources, exploit soil, Endangered species for which no one can create a price. The other model is the Moral Minimum, which defines to maximizes profit while doing minimum obligations of ethics. It gives emphasizes values and morals. It suggests doing the things that do not harm others for the sake of profit. In the Philanthropic Model, the corporate sector is responsible for the growth of the developing sector while there are no protocols for that. Additionally, there is some advanced model of CSR, such as the stakeholder model, strategic model, and sustainability model. However, the thing I figured is they all are for society and desired by society, and in fact, corporate sectors are not caring much about society and the environment. They focus on maximizes their profit. Moreover, even there are tools like GDP and many more in the market to measure Growth or economy, but what about well- being, there is no such tool to measure the values....
