Bethany Parrish PSYC237 Dr. McB 2/19/2021 Weekly Reflection Week 4 1. This week, Cialdini’s “Six Weapons” stood out to me the most, specifically the example you gave with it. I am a huge couponer, which has saved me a lot of money, so when you talked about how they can be used to get people to buy more, I laughed a little bit because of how much I use. I didn’t realize that these 6 weapons are seen so much in day-to-day life, but reciprocity is the big one that stands out to me. 2. One thing that surprised me this week actually had to do with our discussion board. When trying to figure out solutions in regards to trolling. This was surprising to me because I felt like I did not know any, and when I looked it up, I found the generic ones that all sites say they do and have, but you still see trolls everywhere in the online environment. It just makes me wonder, is there a way to stop trolling or even prevent it? 3. From this week’s discussion boards, I think that most people had the same mindsets when it came to trolling. I don’t feel as if I learned that much from the discussion boards, but it did pose some questions. For instance, we all seem to understand what trolling is and recognize it, but do we report it like we are supposed to? Why don’t we report it? Are we afraid the person will know it was us if we do? The topic this week was a good one because of how prominent social media is and how much people do feed off of what other people say or do on social media as well. 4. I think this week my thinking on social behavior hasn’t changed but it has taught me how to be more cautious/aware on social media. I feel that I should know more about trolling and how to stop it/ prevent it better so that social media can become a better place for those who are using it now and those in the future....
