2 Self Assessment

Self assessments are one of the best methods to identify about an individual by himself/herself. This test allows to find the strengths and weaknesses of a person and to develop it in the future if lacking. Self-evaluation is an educational strategy that consists of performing a critical analysis on the part of oneself, in order to assess a situation or judge the results of a certain task. Self-assessment is a key method in the teaching-learning process to educate the student's own responsibility to be their own evaluator, as well as awareness of their personal progress in the educational process. I was given an activity to perform a self assessment for finding out my strengths and weaknesses on communication styles, Gaining Power and Influence, Emotional Intelligence Assessment and Creative Style Indicator. These tests helped me to find out my core traits and qualities. The first assessment that I took is creative style indicator. This indicator helped me to find how creative I am how I utilize my creativity in my career. This creative style indicator test was assessed based on the four different categories namely imagine, invest, improve and incubate. In each of the categories I scored below the average which indicates that I am not very much creative in my ideas and my activities. I have to improve on certain creative traits to make myself more confident and self assured. The next assessment that I took was the emotional intelligence assessment. This assessment assesses my emotional traits like how well I manage my emotions. In this assessment my score was 25 which imply that I have low emotional intelligence. This shows that I need to put more effort to increase my emotional control and management. It is not advisable for a

person to have low emotional intelligence as it will make the person chaotic in life. I have to concentrate on improving my emotional intelligence to make myself strong. The next assessment that I took was Gaining Power and Influence. This assessment helps to find my organizational and leadership qualities. In this test my score was 113 which mark as a low ability to gain power and influence. The assessment was assessed based on three categories personal characteristics, position characteristics and influences. In these categories my average score was above was only in the category of influencing. This assessment has revealed that my gaining power and influencing power are not as per the required standards. The last assessment that I took was the communication styles. The communication style assessment is helpful in finding the best means of communication for a person. This test revealed me my personal communication styles and the area where I need to improve in future. This assessment result was based on the deflecting, probing, advising and reflecting etc. In this test I scored well and it implies that I have a good communication but need to make improvements in the future to maintain the communication skills. This self assessment activity helps me to find myself and areas where I am strong and the areas where I am weak. It is also true that now I identified the areas where I need to put more effort in order to change the lagging part. I need to work hard on the creativity, Gaining Power and Influence, emotional intelligence etc to make myself a good professional as well as a good person. This test has given more opportunity to find my internal and external abilities and skills. It is important for me to find the best measures to improve the weak areas so that I can perform well in the future will all tasks given to me.
