TARRAGONA Have you ever been to Tarragona? If your answer is yes, you should know that it is an important big city in Catalonia. However, if your answer is no, maybe you could know about Salou, really known by British tourists, it is near Tarragona and it became popular because of its beach and parties but Tarragona has much more to offer and that is what you are going to discover in this article. Tarragona is on the coast, so it has one of the largest beaches in Catalonia, tourists usually love it, you can spend your whole day sunbathing and relaxing. The beach is probably the favourite part for most people but the city has many other interesting things for example a lot of museums and landmarks related to the Romans, really exciting if you are keen on history. Another choice is enjoying a shopping day around all the shops located in the city centre, it is also great! On the other hand, we can also highlight the gastronomy of this city. You can find a lot of tasty dishes here, maybe the most popular are “calçots”, a type of onions which are usually eaten with a special sauce, totally recommended, they are delicious! In summary, if you are looking for a short break with your family, Tarragona could be your best destination, it has plenty to do for people of all ages!

A THRILLING CONCERT Last year, my friends and I participated in a raffle to win some tickets for a concert. We had sent a lot of messages when finally an unknown number called me to tell us that we had won three tickets to see our favourite band in their performance in the city centre square, we were really excited. Two weeks later, the day of the concert arrived. It started perfectly; we were having fun until it started to rain unexpectedly. The band stopped playing and everybody became really upset. We thought that the concert would be cancelled but fortunately, the people backstage managed to cover part of the square and the performance went on! Eventually, we enjoyed the whole show and despite of some unexpected facts, it was a thrilling experience!

DESCRIBING A FRIEND My classmate Clara is one of my closest friends although we had never been at the same school before this year. I knew her three years ago, and this year she decided to study in my school and in less than two weeks after arriving she had already become friends with the whole class, and I think that’s admirable so that’s why I’m going to write about her. Clara is a very beautiful and charming girl. She usually makes friends easily because she’s really outgoing and humorous with everyone. Moreover, as you know her, you realise she’s much more than a girl with a great sense of humour, she likes to look after people and help them whenever she’s able to. However, if I had to find a weakness, I’d highlight she’s usually a little bit stubborn. Clara’s absolutely mad about winter and cold. Her favourite hobby is to go skiing with her family, in fact, lately she goes skiing every weekend. She’s a really great skier, actually I have to say that she taught me a little bit skiing the last time we went with the school. In short, Clara is quite special. I’m proud to say that I have such a loyal and helpful friend always by my side.

MY HARDEST DECISION One of the hardest decisions I had to make once I was walking on the street with my friends and I found a wallet someone had lost before and I had to decide if I wanted to give it to the police or, in contrast, to keep it for myself. Firstly, I thought that the correct action was bringing it to the police station. However, my friends told me that it was probably the correct action but it was silly too. They thought that if someone had lost a wallet, it was his problem, not mine, so for that reason it was fair to keep it without saying anything. Finally, instead of following my friends advice, I decided to give it to the police, I couldn’t live with that in my conscience. Surprisingly, by the time I arrived to the police station, the man who had lost his wallet was already there and he was really thankful with me, I definitely think I made the best decision, it was a great experience!

ONLINE DATING People’s opinion on this issue differs widely. Nowadays, online dating has become really popular although many people still prefer traditional meetings. Firstly, one of the main advantages of online dating is that people are able to know new people who probably match them faster, just because they share their own interests through the website so they are sent directly to the perfect person. Moreover, it is a great option for those people who work many hours a day and do not have time for going outside to meet people. On the other hand, it is said that most of profiles in these dating websites are not truthful so people pretend to like to the others and they lie a lot about themselves. What is more, this means that many couples become upset once they have met face to face and they break the relationship quickly. To conclude, taking in account all the arguments above, I think it is better to meet new people face to face than chatting online. From my point of view, I definitely need to know the person I am talking to is not a fake.

MY SISTER My older sister Sandra is twenty-six years old. Seventeen years ago, she didn’t stop telling my parents that she wanted to have a little sister, she wished that more than anything and she finally achieved her goal. That’s why I’m writing about her, because I wouldn’t exist if she hadn’t asked for me. Sandra is average-height and she’s gorgeous. She has short hair and brown eyes, actually although she’s my sister we’re not really similar. About her personality, I think she’s a charming woman, so generous and although she might seem a bit cold fish at first, she likes making friends and I’m sure she’s a good one. Moreover, she used to take care of me when I was a child so she’s responsible and really protective with me. My sister is absolutely mad about animals, specially dogs. In fact, she has two dogs and a cat in her house in Madrid, where she lives with her boyfriend. She enjoys spending time with all of them and so do I when I go to visit her, I love animals as much as my sister. In short, I’m proud and lucky to say that I have such a loyal and helpful sister, physically or not, always by my side. I can’t imagine having a better one.

DEATH PENALTY Nowadays, in some countries it is legal to kill someone if they have committed a severe crime. This is called death penalty and people have many different reasons to think it is right or wrong. Firstly, advocates of the death penalty say that if someone kills someone else, they are not respecting their human rights so the murderers do not deserve to keep rights for themselves. Moreover, these people defend that giving a killer the death penalty will stop them and others from killing again. In addition, they have economic reasons too such as saying that maintaining the murderers alive will be more expensive than killing them. On the other hand, people against the death sentence support the basic human right, the right to life. Besides that, according to them, no one has ever proved that killing murderers stops other people from killing, so that is not a good argument in favour of the death penalty. Furthermore, they suggest that it makes no sense to kill someone because this person has killed someone before, simply because the person who kills the murderer becomes a killer too so actually nobody would be innocent. In conclusion, it is clear that the death penalty is a controversial issue and both advocates and opponents have their arguments but I agree with the opponents because I think that no one has the right to kill anyone as this also affects the closest friends and family....
