Wine Glass. The standard wine tasting glass (the one you’ll be buying a 6-pasck of) is called the ISO XL5. But you don’t need to have that. what you need is; A clear wine glass with a stem, a decent sized bowl and hopefully tapered or “Tulip” shaped at the top. Make sure it’s clean and well rinsed of any detergent. Blank white paper. Blank sheet of paper, A4 is perfect, it’s as a background to see the wine’s colour Wine. Shiraz, preferably Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale (but an “South Australian” will do) , Current Vintage (that means not aged, so 2018 onwards). Wine Suggestion from First Choice, Liquorland, Dan Murphy on-line. Penfolds Koonunga Hill, Pepperjack Shiraz, d'Arenberg The Footbolt Shiraz, Krondorf Winemakers Barossa Shiraz. These are just a few widely stocked wines, and you can always ask someone who is serving in the shop. If you can’t afford very much, then Yellowtail Shiraz or Jacobs Creek Shiraz are good lower priced wines widely available. Spit cup. You always spit in professional tasting. Any cup or glass will do. Tasting Sheet. See other attachment. Print off or do on Word and save the file Your Senses! Make sure you are clear headed and ready to lean Water. Just so you’re not thirsty. What you don’t need. Food, cheese, biscuit etc. This is not about having a drink after work, we need to concentrate on the wine, not be distracted by other flavours and textures.
