Questions: 1. What are the core principles embedded in STI Vision and Mission? Striving for excellence – STI strives to push their students to their utmost excellence. They try to increase their students’ confidence and self-esteem, as well as result in praise, good grades, by putting them first and giving quality education. They help their students to be their very best and produce excellent work. Integrity – To them, integrity means acting in the best interest of their clients. Integrity also entails doing the right things. This encompasses managing risk effectively and efficiently, following proper disclosure procedures, and strictly adhering to all compliance measures. Professionalism – At STI, they instill professionalism into everything they do. They employ their professional ethics and approaches to grow not only their business, but their student’s minds as well. By applying their professionalism to their everyday work, they empower clients to achieve success in life. Education / Importance of education– At STI, they want their students to grasp the importance of quality education to their lives. They implement this through continued research, professional resources, and being receptive to new information. Servant Leadership – At STI, they teach the students to be globally competitive and serve the common good. They strive to make each and every one of their students to become potentially competitive leader in the future. Through this core value, it helps their students to inspire and help others grow, succeed, and lead. They want their students to be visionary by raising expectations for their themselves and their team.

2. As a student, how do you think these principles are properly implemented? Cite examples. At STI, they implement the first core value by using advanced technology as the medium for teaching handouts and learning materials. We all know that STI specializes in IT or Information Technology, so they are better when intertwining classroom teaching with digital learning tools, such as computers and handheld devices. Technology can help learners get more out of traditional instruction by providing them with opportunities to implement what they learn in class. They also encourage students to join different competitions held inside or outside school because it helps them to hone their skills on something they are passionate about. Integrity and Professionalism is implemented through approach. They infuse integrity and professionalism into the classroom culture by encouraging students to put citations on their home works, always being punctual, greeting formally their professors, and obeying dress compliance. And lastly, they highly encourage students to run for leadership positions especially on school clubs and organizations. They want their students to be potentially competitive leader who can govern and lead a group in the future.

3. As an STIer, in what way do you practice these principles? I strive for excellence through challenging myself to do better. By challenging yourself, you will discover that you are capable of things you did not think you were. You will also reach new goals you never would have previously thought to even reach for. I also choose to excel despite the level of difficulty. I always tell to myself that there is nothing I cannot get through if I work very, very hard and keep on believing in myself. I practice integrity through consistently and accurately citing the work of others in my assignments or tasks, keeping academic materials and instructor's intellectual property private (e.g., class slides, assignments, tests, etc.), and not sharing these without the instructor's permission. The first step on practicing professionalism is by having a neat appearance such as ironing your clothes, polishing your shoes, and practicing good hygiene and grooming. Second is having a proper demeanor by be polite and well-spoken 100 percent of the time. Whether you’re speaking with peers, superiors, or co-workers, keep calm and be tactful, even in tense situations. And lastly is being reliable and taking the initiative. I practice this through getting my work done on time, responding to requests promptly, and follow-through with promises in timely fashion. I practice being a leader by being part of school clubs or organization and run a position. So, currently I have a position in Student Council Club, which is ABM representative, and I think being in this position is quite helping me to hone my leadership skills. Also joining other practices and getting involved in after-school activities and finding volunteering activities.

4. Is there a difference in how the four (4) core principles are implemented in a business and a non-profit organization? There is definitely a difference between the two. The main difference is the professionalism. Professionalism is more valued, strict, and emphasized in business organizations. Professionalism is more vital because it is an outward display of a company. Although, professionalism is also emphasized in non-profit organizations, it is not that strict because usually there are no strict regulations embedded in there like dress compliance and embodying a good physical demeanor. There are slight differences in terms of integrity, leadership, and striving for excellence between the two, but they are mostly the same when emphasized on both organizations. Integrity is important since it fosters an open and positive work environment for both. Leadership is important, too, since it brings teams together, often resulting in tremendous achievements. And lastly, striving for excellence is emphasized in both parts to achieve their chosen goals.
