Ecology Movies!!!
32 pts possible
The goal of this assignment is to create a movie that demonstrates your understanding of a topic in Ecology related to an article from a newspaper or a magazine. The movie will be posted on Flipgrid and should be less than 5 min in length. For this assignment, you need to do the following: 1. Begin to research your assigned topic on page 2 so you generally understand the content. 2. Search for an article that addresses the topic in Ecology that you selected. The article needs to come from a newspaper (Washington Post, NY Times, Boston Globe, etc) or from a valid magazine (Time, The Atlantic, etc). 3. Read the article and then write out a “script” that summarizes the article and links it to the topic in Ecology that you selected. You will need to do a bit more research about your topic to make this link. 4. You will also need to make a connection between the article, the field of ecology, and one other topic we studied this year. Use your class notes and OneNote to explore how to make this connection. 5. Post a video on Flipgrid where you summarize the article WITH A MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY (ideally an adult). After your summary, ask your participant one question about your summary. The participant should respond authentically to your question, but you MAY NOT PREVIEW THE ARTICLE OR QUESTION for your participant. Your video should include: 1. A claim about how your article is linked to your topic in Ecology 2. A summary of the article (evidence) 3. Links between the text of the article and other research into your topic (evidence) 4. A question that you ask your participant and that your participant responds to 5. Connection that sums up the link between the article, ecology, and a topic we learned about earlier this year
