1. What sort of cultural or social forces impact how we think and behave? There are many different cultural and social forces that impact how we think and behave. Some are religion, school, mass media, family and peers. When talking about religion, it can impact what you eat, and also determine who someone marries or may believe they should marry. In the Hindu religion, they usually avoid certain food that are believe to hinder spiritual developments. Also, the Church of the Latter Day Saints (Mormon church) prohibit the consumption of alcohol, tobacco; also being restricted from drinking containing caffeine and hot drinks. School, more specifically education greatly impacts how we think in society. By achieving many years of school, and obtaining certain degrees declares your status through your career and income.

2. Describe an example of a behavior that is impacted by socialization and cultural influences? The clothing you choose to wear is impacted by socialization and cultural influences. Society and cultures judge you based on what clothes you wore. For example, the goth fashion trend in which people wear all black clothing society in America and certain cultures would see these people as weird, satanic, rebellious people. But, in England this is a fashion trend that is widely accepted, due to it being where the trend originated from through it’s musical influences.

3. How do things like media and advertising impact our understanding of how we should act or behave in a culture or group? Media and advertising greatly impact our understanding of how we should act and behaving in society. Not so long ago, plastic surgery was something that people usually were ashamed of, and media shamed or made fun of people for getting plastic surgery. Today, with a lot of reality TV stars and also Instagram Influencers, plastic surgery is something widely accepted, and have become a norm. Lots of girls today are altering their appearance to look like what media considers beautiful. Plastic surgery is also slowly becoming widely accepted in men as well, as the LGBT community has a lot of social media influence and have given confidence to many men who want to alter their appearance....
