Description

Fabiola Cineas wrote the article " Why it took 100 years for America to learn about the Tulsa massacre" to explain to the readers the truth about the Tulsa massacre and to explain why such a terrifying event has been hidden for so many years. The author begins the article by saying in detail the time and place of the incident. At the same time, the author also describes the groups of people and organizations involved in the incident and describes what happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on the evening of May 31, 1921. in particular, The article tells the reader that the Tulsa Massacre is the event where a mob of white residents claimed that a black man attempted to rape a white woman, so the hundreds of white residents were armed and supported by the national guard and law enforcement, attacked black residents and destroyed their home and businesses of the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the US what had been considered a promised land for Black Americans who traveled from afar to reach it. The reports show that there was hundreds of black were killed is buried. Black residents tried to sought justice in the local court but were denied and ignored because the court and the city were not on their side. Many people believe that the main cause of the black Tulsans' tragedy stemmed from the hatred, greed, and racism of white people against black people, not from the rumored assault of a white girl by a young Black man, which was later proven false. This event harms the spirit of black people and causes loss of material wealth for the black community. The incident has been hidden for decades but has now come to light, and the public has acknowledged this historic event. The story is told in the words of the survivors of the Tulsa massacre. Once the facts are clear, there needs to be adequate compensation for the black community, racial reconciliation, and this horrific event must be taught as a historical event for generations. The author has many strengths in this article, such as the combination between the wording and pictures in telling the story helped the readers more interesting in the story. Also, the authors structure and organize her article logically, making it easier for her readers to follow. Besides, Fabiola is an expert in using pathos to convey a meaningful message to her audience by describing how the blacks community has felt about what happened to them to empathize with the victims. She also quotes people involved in the event and experts who know about the topic that she has discussed in this article to increase the credibility of this article. However, the authors also have a weakness: The author did not delve deeply into the cause of the massacre and why it was so hidden. Just stating that only three surviving witnesses can be counted on to tell the story is difficult to convince the reader of what happened. Through it can be seen, the author did not use the logos method effectively to convince the reader to believe what happened in the tragedy in Tulsa....
