ASSESSMENT OF THE GRADE 12 STUDENTS SATISFACTION TOWARDS MODULAR LEARNING IN PAG-ASA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

CHAPTER 1 PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

Education plays an important role in shaping the lives of students. Due to the emergence of COVID-19 in the Philippines, a lot of changes happened in the educational landscape. One of these is the mode of instruction that was implemented by the Department of Education. The current COVID-19 crisis has obliged most

education

systems

to

adopt

teaching and learning. Many education systems moved activities online, to allow instruction to continue despite school closures. The

schools

to

modular distance learning made more challenging, on the part of the school personnel, the delivery of basic quality education. That is

Modular learning has never been adopted and accepted as real learning or the formal mode of education before this ongoing pandemic that compelled to resort to electronic learning solution by world over. Now, at the hour of pandemic crisis, most of the educational institutions are exploring and approaching towards a modular learning to make it easy for students to work at new normal. As

Around the world, several countries are affected by the outbreak of Coronavirus disease 2019, which is an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. Since the implementation of modular distance learning has an impact on the students’ way of learning and how they adapted it as the new normal way of learning. In conclusion, researchers

conducted this study to determine the assessment of the students satisfaction towards modular learning.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to determine the satisfaction of the grade 12 students towards modular learning.

Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of their; a) Age; b) Sex; c) Section?

2. What is the level of students satisfaction towards modular learning in terms of; a) Learning Objectives b) Assessment and Measurement c) Motivation 3. Is there a significant relationship between the level of Grade 12 students satisfaction in Modular Learning.

SCOPE AND DELIMINATION

This study is limited to the pertinent data gathered among selected 100 students and this covered the assessment of the Grade 12 students towards modular learning. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather the data. This study was limited to the responses on the Grade 12 students of Pag-asa National High School. This study was conducted from October 2021 – 2022.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY The result of this study will would benefit the following people:

FUTURE RESEARCHERS. This research will be useful for the future researchers who would plan to make any related studies about online learning or modular distance learning.

PARENTS. The parents will benefit the assessment of students satisfaction towards modular learning. The findings would also help them to learn the actions of their children during the modular distance learning. STUDENTS. This study would serve as a guide and reference to know their level of satisfaction towards modular learning. TEACHERS. Like parents, the gathered data would serve as their guide

to

do

during the

modular

distance

learning. The

findings would also help the teachers in determining whether the modular learning is more effective than traditional method.

DEFINITION OF TERMS The

following

terms

are

defined

operationally

and

lexically for better understanding of readers and researchers.

Assessment and Measurement. It determine the attributes or dimensions of an object, skill or knowledge of the students.

Modular learning. It is a form of distance learning that uses Self-Learning Modules based on the most essential learning competencies developed by the teachers with the aid of curriculum developers.

Motivation. Refers to the process that initiates, guides, and maintains goal-oriented behavior of the Grade 12 students of Pag-asa National High School.

Learning

Objectives.

It

describes

what

are

the

students

expected to learn by the end of school year during modular type of learning method.

Satisfaction.
