Introduction The purpose of this assignment is to assume the roles of an account executive and submit a written report to demonstrate my knowledge and understanding of the research process for a sales pitch. In this assignment I will be selecting a product, selecting a sport organization to sell the product to, and presenting my sales presentation.

Sport Product and Company The sport product I will be pitching is a Bauer hockey stick. I will be pitching this product to Sport Chek.

Synopsis of Retailer Sport Chek is Canada’s largest sporting goods retailer. They sell both sporting equipment and sporting apparel in the store. They provide excellent service to their customers, while providing the best industry standard equipment. The products sold by Sport Chek are of the best quality, which is how they have been able to build a name for themselves.

Synopsis of Product Bauer hockey sticks are one of the best in the industry. Many NHL athletes use them. Bauer does not only manufacture hockey sticks but all manufactures skates, gloves, helmets, pads, and so on to all things hockey. Their focus on hockey provides assurance that their products are of top-notch quality.

Target Demographic The target demographic for this product is girls’, aged 15 to 20, who are interested in, or have just started to play hockey at a recreational level. They can either be playing ice, road, or ball hockey.

The Sales Process Objectives The two objectives for this product are: 1. To bring hockey into the lives of more girls for recreational purposes, as well as a means to staying active. With hockey as their primary way to stay active Bauer will offer a reliable stick. 2. Partnering with local women’s recreational hockey leagues is another objective. By doing this Bauer will promote the playing of hockey with women. Bauer hopes to become the leading brand of hockey sticks among women aged 15 to 20. I feel with the NWHL coming to light recently, more women will be motivated and inspired to play hockey. Sales Forecasting 

The market for this product is constantly growing. Especially with the NWHL girls are being inspired to play, Women have been fighting for their place in professional sports, or sports in general. With Bauer marketing for girls, more girls will be drawn to this product.

Bauer and Sport Chek are both big companies so the budget for this project will be high. Bauer projects the budget to be at least $500,000.

Prospecting 

We will be using referrals from professional female hockey players who use Bauer products.



We will also be contacting local arena’s to get player testimonies through phone calls and emails from players who already use Bauer products.

The Pre-Approach Bauer offers a variety of sticks so we have a variety of sticks to offer each player. In the presentation: 

A variety of sticks will be shown



Each stick will go with the players’ age, height, and playing style.



We will take Bauer sticks onto the streets and ask possible consumers to try the stick out and give a statement about how they felt about the stick.

The Approach In this final step we will take the Bauer hockey sticks a women’s recreational hockey league that we plan to partner with and provide the team with sticks for free. This is so that we can get them using the sticks, they get a new quality product for no cost and they can give testimonials to the product. With this Bauer can get word of mouth referrals, and the brand can expand.
