PERSONALITY ANALYSIS

This essay contains the comic character of Iron Man’s personality analysis whose real name is Tony Stark (Beaty: 2016) in the movie “Avengers Age of Ultron”. He has the most important skill, power, intelligence, and money. This combination of characteristics made him a superhero. After watching the movie, it seems like the big theory of Robert R. McCrae and Paul T. Costa Jr. is most relatable with Iron man’s personality. Although the Big five theory consists of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, neuroticism, (Feist et. al: 2018) for Iron Man’s personality analysis we will be using conscientiousness. Conscientiousness is the most dominant trait in Iron man’s personality as it describes the people who are self-discipline, hardworking, reliable, ambitious and organized (Cervone and Pervin, 2014). Conscientiousness means following the society approved norms for impulse control, to be goal-directed, ability to plan as well as the ability to delay gratification (Brent W. et. al: 2009). Conscientiousness is a vital element behind success; it is also an indicator of love for work, longevity, good health, and well-being of one’s self. He along with Banner created the “Ultron” to save the humankind. Both of them worked hard to create Ultron. But when Ultron becomes the A.I. monster who wanted to wipe out the human race, the Iron Man instantly made the “Vision” to defeat the Ultron. Even though Tony made a mistake by making Ultron, he also tried to reactify his mistake immedietly. It makes him conscientious. He can take the decision instantly without wasting time to cope with the situation, from this it seems like Iron man is puntual. Iron Man made both Ultron and Vision in a short time. It proves that he was ambitious and hardworking. He has the ability to learn quickly. When Scarlet Witch cast spell on hulk and manipulated him to destroy a city, Iron Man stopped him although it requires him to beat Hulk brutally. Even though Hulk was his friend, he took the drastic step to stop Hulk. It helped Iron Man to stop the destruction made by the Hulk, and in that way, he settled things down and saved

the city. Tony defeated hulk with his broken armor, he did not stop. Tony had physical strength as well as intelligence. He tried to preserve the harmony of that city. Iron Man always tried to secure the people. When he fights with his enemy or somebody else, he does not worry about himself, he always thinks about the people. He could have even put his life in danger just for the others. Ultron tried to kill humanity by dropping the city; Iron Man took the city in his shoulder to help people, an example of conscientiousness. In the movie, it is seen that when the Iron Man had a conversation with the agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, Nick Furry he was worried about whatever happened because of his destructive invention Ultron. Iron Man is a member of superheroes team Avengers, where Captain America was the leader, he always used to consults with Iron Man if any issues arrived because the Captain knows that Tony can make a good plan and sees the statistics beforehand about the decision they are making. From this scenario, it could be said that Iron Man is reliable. Iron man is the best of the Avengers team, who always worked selflessly. He is brave, he could even cost his life to save a city, and he is outstanding. He wanted to sacrifice himself for the greater well being of humankind. Although in the movie most of the popular Marvel superheroes were present, it is Iron Man whose personality grabs my attention most In this paper, Iron Man known as Tony Stark’s personality has been analyzed using one of the aspects of the Big five theory; conscientiousness. Depending on the movie “Avengers Age of Ultron” Iron man’s personality goes well with conscientiousness as he poses all the characteristics such as self-discipline, hardworking, reliable, ambitious and organized. Considering all the facts, it seems like conscientiousness describe Tony Stark/Iron Man’s personality best. Tony Stark is an inspiring character, a good role model of conscientiousness, he is a human being but becomes superhero whenever wear his suit, who dedicated his life for the

others. He become the defend for the defencless even though it would have large impact on his personal life as well as create many social and economic problems.
