Exam Taking Instructions BA-360 Online Exam 3 Open Monday, June 10, 12:01am – 11:59pm, San Diego time.   

Your exam time is as indicated on course syllabus (unless previously arranged) The Exam is available in the same place as the Practice Exam: Blackboard / Assignments You have ONE submission for the test, and you’ll have 85 minutes to complete the exam of 35 questions.

This set of instructions is an addition to the Exam Preparation Instructions document here. Read that one first, if you haven’t already. I will not repeat information that is in that document.

Cheating Section: 1. Cheating in this exam means using anything other than your own brain, one doubled-sided note sheet, a page of scratch paper and a calculator to take the test. 2. Turn OFF all electronic devices except the computer you’re using to take the test. That includes phones, audio/video playing devices, televisions, other laptops, tablets, computers of any kind. If you need an exception you must get my approval before you take the test or it will be considered as cheating. 3. No electronic devices stuck in your ears. 4. No hats or hoods are allowed on your head. I must be able to see your full face. 5. You may not communicate with any student who has not taken the test yet, and you may not talk to any student who has taken it before you have completed it. 6. No leaving the room once you start your exam. If I notice that you left the room, I’ll stop grading your exam after the question you just completed. Exception: if you have a bona fide emergency that you will clearly prove to me later. Like fire, flood, acute sickness. Make sure you do what you need to do before the test, to enable you to sit in front of the computer for 85 minutes. 7. As you know by now, Lockdown Browser records and analyzes all your movements. It will, using AI, detect such behavior as looking at sources beside/above/below you and talking or looking at someone nearby. When it flags me that such an incident has occurred, I will view the video and decide for myself if you’ve cheated. So, don’t worry about moving around naturally as you take the test, even if LDB flags you, I get to make the final determination. 8. Any student suspected of cheating will be turned into the SDSU CSR&R and will receive a score of zero (F) for the entire BA-360 course. See Syllabus for details.

Students may use a calculator, a scratch sheet, and a self-generated double-sided note sheet that includes all their needed formulas. When I took the test, I noticed a glitch that is easy to overcome, if you know about it. Each answer has a circle “radio button” for you to click when you choose it. I noticed that in my Mac those radio buttons didn’t appear next to the answers. If that happens to you, just hover to the left of your answer and it WILL then appear. Then you can click it. The other radio buttons may not appear but who cares? You just want the right answer! You won’t get answers until after everyone has taken the test, so don’t expect immediate feedback. You will be able to see your score on Blackboard though. Because LDB randomizes answers, you may see answers like “All the above” or “None of the above”. If that answer appears in the middle of the list, just assume it refers to ALL the answers in the list of possible answers. If you have technical problems with LDB, contact the SDSU Library Help Desk at https://its.sdsu.edu/assessment-tools/respondus/ I doubt you’ll get immediate help, so it’s really critical that you take the Practice test and make sure everything works before, including setting up your STRONG internet connection. Don’t take a chance on this! If you have a technical disaster (system crashes) please follow this procedure: o Write down as much of what happened as you can on a text document and email it to me as soon as you can. In this document, explain what you did to make sure you had good technology and internet connection. I’ll decide what to do based on that. o If you didn't take the Practice Exam with Lockdown Browser, then I won’t help you with this Exam. Sorry, but that was your choice to not do it and work out problems beforehand. This is your responsibility by agreeing to take the online course.
