Peter Acciardi Professor Jessica Nyrop 3 February 2021 Rec 165 Reflection Paper Badminton has been interesting to me since the sixth grade. My class use to play when we ever had a snow day and usually, those were the best days. Snow in my area was very common because I live on the east coast. The last time I played badminton was in sixth grade and I miss it. When I saw that University at Buffalo was offering it, I got little excited and picked it immediately. It was so interesting to me because it makes me move a lot and I have a lot of energy. Watching badminton is fun to me as well. When the Olympics are on, I always have to watch this sport. I was sad when they had to cancel the Olympics this year, but everybody knows that safety is the number one priority. When I was first starting playing, I thought it was like tennis., It is kind of like tennis but there are certain angles and ways to hit the shuttlecock. This thing moved all different kinds of angles and in tennis, the ball is just round and goes forward. When you hit the shuttlecock, it moves all over the place. It is hard to control when you are a rookie like me. Badminton is definitely harder than what people think. It is that hard that it is actually an Olympic sport. Three facts that I just learned about badminton is that first, this sport started more than 2,000 years ago. That Is crazy to think about how long that is. Second, the first tournament was

held in 1898 in England. I thought it was an American sport so that is new and interesting. Third and final fact is that it took until 1992 for it to become a sport at the Olympic games. I thought it was at the beginning of the games that they would have this but no. I can’t wait to learn more....
