A2-Assess your Hardware

1. To measure my system’s performance, I used task manager (performance tab) and PassMark’s PerformanceTest. 2. After doing the performance tests, I can say that my computer does not have the best hardware, when comparing it to different types of other hardware available. Since the CPU has 4 cores, the tasks will be accomplished quicker than a CPU with just a dual core. Given the 2.8 GHz processor, the PC has slow processing, therefore switching to a processor with more GHz will improve the processing speed, as well as the noise the computer makes. However, given the 16 GB of RAM, the performance of the computer is improved. My PC received a PassMark rating of 2574.7, placing it in the 37th percentile, meaning that it does not have great performance. The performance can be improved by changing the CPU, 3D graphics card, the memory, and especially the disk, to faster hardware. When the rating of the given hardware is closer to the 1st percentile, the performance of the computer is not at its best. The HDD in my computer received a terrible score, placing it in the 11th percentile. The hard disk drive is at 7200 RPM, which does not make it run as fast as an SSD. Switching the HDD to an SSD would augment the performance of the computer. The CPU, an Intel Core i7-6700T @ 2.80GHz, was ranked at the 42nd percentile, which, again, is not the best rating, but it runs well for my preference. The CPU is an older version: 6th generation, released in 2015, therefore it needs an upgrade, since new processors have been created and adjusted for better performance. The RAM in the computer is at 16 GB, which is particularly good, landing it at the 40th percentile. The more RAM in a computer, the faster it will run, and they are usually used in gaming PCs. Overall, I am content with the performance of my PC, given my needs, but I will change the HDD to an SDD for better performance.
