% BU 354 – Human Resources Management, Fall 2019 Sections B2 & B3 Instructor: Anita Boey Instructor Designated (20% across two components) 1) Mind Map Group Project (10%): Students will work in groups of approximately 5 (there will be 12 groups in the class, please check on MyLS for the group list) to create a Mind Map to summarize a topic studied in class. The Instructor will assign a topic to each group on the first day of class. These topics will follow the chapters in the course textbook. The purpose of these Mind Maps would be to help students organize and better visualize what they have learned in each lecture. These Mind Maps will be shared with the rest of the class to help each other revise for the Final Exam. In these Mind Maps, students are to be as detailed as possible with important concepts within each topic. Students can either create these Mind Maps by hand or on a computer, as long as it fits on a single page of A4 sized paper (regular printer paper size). If your group decides to create your Mind Maps by hand, please digitally scan your work as a PDF for submission. Students can be creative with how they want to present their thoughts on paper. Mind Maps are due on November 27th, before 11.30pm. Please submit one file per group via Dropbox onto MyLS. 2) Reflection Paper (10%): This assignment will require you to write a maximum 2-page (single spaced) reflection paper on what you have learned in the course. This is an individual assignment. There are a number of questions you could consider to accomplish this. Ø What have you learned about dealing with employees? Ø What lessons/models stood out to you? Why were these ideas interesting to you? Ø What were the things you felt strongly about (positively or negatively)? Ø Are there any ways you will act/think differently because of taking this course? Ø How was this course different from what you expected? Ø How does what you learned mesh with your experiences? Ø How can you make sure to use these lessons in the future? While this information may be subjective, it is important to organize your thoughts and to show that you have carefully and deeply considered the topic. Do not just list the answers to these questions. Do not just list all the things you have learned (you will not have much room, so you have to pick what’s most important). Think about what you have learned, reflect on it, and write the key points in your paper. You will make reflection notes throughout the time we have together so that you will have lots of things to choose from when it comes time to write the paper....
