Calvin Klein's Underage Models Calvin Klein has become a powerful brand name and clothing designer. However, in the early 1990s the company produced a marketing campaign that featured underage models in scandalous clothing and intimate positions. The campaign offended many consumers, especially parents who were shopping for their children. Calvin Klein was forced to remove many of the ads at great expense and issue a formal apology. It took the company many years to repair the brand from that campaign. Whopper Virgins Another bad marketing campaign came from fast-food giant Burger King, which released its "Whopper Virgin" campaign

in 2008. The spots asked people, usually foreigners who had never tried a McDonald's or Burger King hamburger, which they liked better. The candid videos were awkward and hard to understand. Consumers found the ads offensive for picking on those individuals and objected to the name of the campaign. Burger King was forced to end the campaign early. Microsoft Kin and Zune In the 2000s, Apple began to dominate U.S. electronic consumer products with its iPod and iPhone. In response, Microsoft produced several illconceived, clunky consumer products to compete in the cell phone and music player market sectors. Despite hundreds of millions of dollars in production and development costs, as

well as millions in marketing expenses, the Zune and the Kin were taken off the market within a few months and expunged from all future marketing campaigns....
