To whomever it may concern,! I am writing in regards to the opportunity of doing my student placement within your organization at True North Medical. I am a Humber Alumni who is currently re-attending Humber for the Social Service Worker program after completing a Diploma in Protection, Security and Investigations with Honours. I am very interested in pursuing a placement at True North Medical as I hope to one day pursue a career in mental health and addictions. My placement would be taking place for 14 hours a week on Monday’s and Tuesday’s starting January 9th, 2019 and ending April 24th, 2020.! Your agency strives to provide safe, confidential and accessible treatment plans to those struggling with HIV, Hepatitis C and opioid addiction which I truly admire and believe is an extremely important component in helping to better our communities. Helping those struggling with addictions has always been a huge passion of mine and something I have always been

interested in helping people with. I am particularly interested in doing a placement at True North as I have noticed that often times treatment centres are not as accessible to those in smaller communities which unfortunately leaves those individuals who need treatment to fall through the cracks of society; however, True North is trying to change that. ! I am very passionate about True North as I am hopeful in helping to alleviate the marginalization of those struggling with substance abuse and HIV by working directly with them to help them reach their full potential. Although I have no direct experience working with those dealing with these life altering circumstances, my family has a history of working with mental health and addictions which has inspired me to pursue a career in the social services. Being immersed in these topics my whole life has sparked an ongoing interest in me to continue educating myself on social services for many years. I believe that my passion for the field as well as my family experience with mental health and addictions is a strong starting point towards learning what resources are out there to offer help to individuals struggling with HIV, Hepatitis C and substance abuse. I truly believe that becoming a part of your organization at True North will help me further develop my skills and expand my knowledge on such a passion of mine. !
