Growing up in Tysons Corner, and driving past the Cvent company headquarters everyday on my way to school, I have accrued an interest in the company. Since studying different applications of technology in my information systems class last semester, I have become especially interested in the integration of technology in event planning. One morning I stumbled across a headline that read “The Largest Technology Conference in the World”, and I was immediately intrigued by the power of live events that Cvent is facilitating. Cvent’s emphasis on intrapreneurship will allow my interest in technology and innovation to be expressed in a corporate setting. Another appealing quality I found in Cvent is the company’s investment in employee experience. The multiple awards received by Cvent to credit their flourishing workplace added to my excitement about this internship opportunity. I have developed several skills that would be valuable to Cvent. In my fraternity, I started a study group for core business classes to raise the cumulative GPA of the brotherhood. Through utilizing Google Groups and GroupMe, I was able to formulate weekly meetings based on class requirements. I gained foundation planning skills that will be built upon by completing this internship. In addition, in my website design and IT solutions roles at Gams Consulting, I tailored smartphone compatible websites and application software solutions to meet customer needs. By focusing on user experience, I successfully restructured the websites of multiple small businesses to meet current technological demands which developed my capability for problem solving. Moreover, in my business writing course, I learned how to create effective PowerPoints and business documents. This taught me how to properly communicate in a corporate environment. The skills I developed from my work experience and academic excellence make me qualified for the product management internship.
