Critical Incident Technique

It the technique to gather information on behaviours that contribute to the success or demise of performance [ CITATION Cri14 \l 4105 ]. It is a tools that is used to conduct frontend analysis to record successful or unsuccessful behaviours that relate to job performance [CITATION Cat19 \l 4105 ]. This done by a questionnaire or an interview method, of the person in the job their supervisors or other experts in the job (Catano, Wiesner, & Hackett, 2019. With hundreds of these crucial incidents the job analysis can build up a very good understanding of what the job entails such as the skills knowledge and responsibilities needed to perform the job in a successful way [ CITATION Cri14 \l 4105 ].

Importance

The CIT can be used to evaluate and take into account both on the job behaviour and end of training; It helps capture data on an individual task and job behaviour[ CITATION Cri14 \l 4105 ]. CIT is not as expensive as the other tools[CITATION Cat19 \l 4105 ]. It helps to picturize the job description and job specifications which in turn helps the organizations to find the right person for the job which can lower down the employee turnover for the position. It also helps us to find the required skills and abilities required for a certain job[ CITATION mba19 \l 4105 ].

Procedure 

The incidents related to the job have to identified so that the incidents could be reviewed at the next step;



Then the information is collected from various resources such as employees, co-workers, manager;



Lastly the data collected is studied thoroughly so as to find solution to it [ CITATION mba19 \l 4105 ].
