Sam Compagno Police in America 1/24/18 Current Event A woman who is suing Greenville Sheriff Will Lewis for sexual assault has also included the administrator, Joe Kernell, and the county as part of the lawsuit. In the article, both Kernell and the county made a motion to be dropped for the suit as they claim they had nothing to do with the alleged crime and had no foreknowledge of the event. While Sheriff Lewis has not asked to be dropped from the suit, he claims he and the victim, Savanah Nabors, had a consensual sexual encounter. Ms. Nabors is attempting to hold Mr. Kernell liable because she claims that Mr. Kernell knew that Ms. Nabors and the sheriff would have the opportunity to be alone on a business trip that he approved, and that Mr. Kernell observed Sheriff Lewis acting inappropriately but failed to intervene.
