Dakota Anderson Competency: Compare research methodologies Review the article that you selected and complete the following analysis. Be sure to include the permalink for the article you selected. What is the identified research problem? Does the author include the significance and background of the problem? The study’s identified research problem was defined as the existence of obvious difficulties for nurses as they continue their education at their university and also in the work place. The article includes the significance and background of the problem. The author sheds light on the problem background by stating the importance of nurses continuing their education. He reiterated the importance of the background by highlighting, when nurses continue their education, it expands their knowledge skills and improves their attitudes and comfortability in the work place. And this may lead to higher competency rates as well.

Did the author clearly articulate the research purpose? What was the purpose of the research? In this article the author pretty clearly states the research purpose. The author states and describes the purpose of the research was to explore the challenges faced by nurses as they continue their education to improve patient care. The nurses face many challenges in their education and requirements for ongoing education to maintain your RN license. If nurses to don’t reach and attain these goals it may affect the quality of care you are able to provide to a patient.

Identify the study methodology. The research of this study involved different methods of study. The first method used in the research design that was obvious was the sampling method. Seemingly at random, a small population of only a few individuals were selected from the full general population of nurses. In total it encompassed thirty-nine different nurses participating in the study. Another method used in the research design was the interview method they chose. This research method relies on one on one conversations and information reported with the people involved. The study used interviews people to draw information from their participants/clients. This is the date they record to analyze for research later. There was a script for the interviews as well to speed things along.

Did the article include a relevant review of the literature? Explain. The research and author technically didn’t include a relevant literature review. The literature review for other articles I’ve researched typically contain the author of the study article recognizing the work done by other researchers. The lack of credited background research by others shows that the research was primary and didn’t really rely on previous researchers or studies. Describe the theoretical framework for the research study? The study was conducted and designed to prove the extent of which nurses face challenges in their education and ongoing learning requirements of the field. In my opinion, the theoretical framework implies that the challenges registered nurses will face in their education directly affect their quality of care and service delivery. In other words, if a nursing student faces too many challenges in their education quality of service will become very limited.

Identify the components of the qualitative research study. The research was driven by different objectives. But seemingly all of these objectives pursued to prove the point that nurses face many challenges in their continuing education which directly affects their quality. Some of the post questions of the research were whether the participants were satisfied with their education. Essentially, testing overall job satisfaction. The study also involved different procedures beginning with the sampling method used in selecting participants. The next step involving interviewing the participants on why they would further their education, after which the results were analyzed to point to some conclusions for the results.

Describe the results of the study along with identified strengths and limitations. Include appropriate terms for rigor in qualitative research Nurses confront a variety of obstacles in their continuing education, according to the findings. Learner-related issues and educational process factors are two types of obstacles. The most important finding was that the problems these nurses confront as they complete their education have an impact on their quality. The research incorporated advantages, including a thorough discussion of the research process, which helps in the comprehension of the study. The study's drawback, on the other side, is the absence of comparison with other researchers, as seen by the lack of a literature review.

Discuss the findings including relevancy to clinical practice. The results revealed that nurses face difficulties in their continuing education. According to Spring Arbor University, these challenges indicated that even though they attended their weekly classes, their work often lacked quality due to the nature of problems faced. One of the main reasons being nurses find it difficult managing their work, school, and personal lives. In addition, some of the students only decide to pursue higher education to get job promotions; therefore, they do not care about providing quality service to patients. The implications of these findings for clinical practice suggest that if nursing professionals confront problems while they pursue their education, their knowledge, abilities, and attitude will be impacted, resulting in a reduction in the quality of their job. As a result, the patients under their care do not receive adequate treatment.
