Description

Dear Listener, My name is Rebecka Jo Bahn. I am sixteen years old. I am the daughter of Scot and Belinda Bahn. I have one younger brother, Zack, who is thirteen years old. We have a dog named Shawnee. I love music, singing, and dancing. I am on Triad Varsity Dance Team. I also have a job as a gymnastics coach and dance instructor in Granite City. I love food. I eat almost anything, besides pickles and tomatoes. My favorite color is Tiffany Blue. My favorite TV shows are Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy. I was born in Maryville, Illinois at Anderson Hospital. I am from Troy, Illinois. I still live in Troy, Illinois. I lived in a small house with my parents until I was two years old. Once I turned two, and my parents realized they wanted more children, we moved into a bigger house. I still live in that same house. This album I have created is a Soundtrack of My Life. It shows who I am as a person and certain major events that have occurred in my life. The songs represent events in my life that have made me become the person I am today. I have completed this Soundtrack because it is fun to explore songs that represent events in my life. It is a good experience to try and connect the two. I hope to have a better understanding of myself. I hope the songs I have chosen truly represent each event which would also help others understand me too. I see myself reflecting on this soundtrack to see how I feel about the past events. Later in life it would be fun to explore how differently things may be compared to how it was when I chose these songs. My goal was to select songs that accurately portrayed the events I chose. Also to have the lyrics of the songs I have chosen relate to my emotions about the event. The first song I chose is Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison. This song is important to me because it is a memory of my childhood. It connects to me because my mom used to sing it to me every night when I was little. I have big, dark brown eyes and have ever since I was born. This song reveals that I am family orientated and cared for. This event makes me want to have a special song dedicated to my child just like my mom did for me. The second song I chose is The Greatest by Kenny Rodgers. This song represents my brother being born three years after I was. I chose this song because it is the song my mom sang to him since he was little. It is about baseball, which is a sport my brother plays and enjoys watching. This choice reveals that I am caring about my sibling and that family is important to me. The third song I chose is You’ll Be in My Heart by Phil Collins. This song is not only from one of my favorite childhood movies Tarzan, but also represents a tragic event in my life. I like this song because it reminds me of my friend, Ashlynn, who passed away when I was in third grade. This song is important to me because it helps me remember the happy memories on the playground with her. It is such a cute song to represent a great person lost. This song reveals that I am thoughtful and caring. It shows that friends are important to me, even if their not physically with me. My fourth song is We’re All in this Together from High School Musical. This song represents my friends and I entering high school. This was the first step to us growing up. As stupid as it sounds, this movie was a good way for us to prepare. It was so fun to watch and think

about what high school would be like, and then to find out it’s not a place where people just randomly break out into song. Despite our disappointment, we were all in it together, starting a new adventure in our life. The fifth song I chose is Miss Independent by Kelly Clarkson. This song represents me getting a job and making my own money. This song perfectly explains what it’s like to become more independent. After getting a job, I had to begin paying for my own things. This shows that I am independent and can partially take care of myself. My sixth song on my soundtrack is We Are the Champions by Queen. This is my personal favorite because of what it represents. This was the easiest song to choose considering the event it is for. This song represents me and my varsity dance team winning TDI State Champions in 2015. We won in the category of 2A Hip Hop, and it is still one of my most favorite memories to this day. The seventh song I chose is Run the World (Girls) by Beyonce. I chose this song because it represents another one of my dance team’s successes this past season. We placed 2nd place in the Open Dance category by .04 at IHSA state. This song reminds me of this event because we didn’t think we would be able to do that well. The song is about women empowerment and strength. The final song I chose is Ready, Set, Don’t Go by Billy Ray Cyrus. This song represents me getting my license. I chose this song because it relates to how my parents felt about me growing up. This song is important to me because it is sentimental and actually relatable to real life. Family is important to me, and their support is a great aspect of my life as I mature and grow older. I think that this was a good experience to try to connect songs to real events in our life. My soundtrack represents major events in my life. The lyrics of the songs help express my emotions during that time. Soundtracks are a great way for people to express themselves, especially since music has such a big impact on this generation. This project is fun to connect songs with your own life events. However, it was sort of challenging! Coming up with that many major events and trying to find songs that fit them perfectly was difficult. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my soundtrack!!...
