For FEDREL 250 Jesus Christ Everlasting Gospel. 7 lessons worth of answers. ...
FDREL 250-42 23 September 2016
Disciple Project Lesson Two : Write one paragraph of promptings you have as you reflect upon the question “What lack I yet?” As with most people on Earth in this and age, I lack quite a few amiable qualities. I have only touched upon a great many Christ like qualities, such as patience, forgiveness, understanding, and love. If you could focus this semester on just one thing that you lack what would it be? This semester I would love to focus my efforts on loving more. A few experiences in my past have caused that quality for me to fade. Write a summary of your findings and thoughts and submit them to the "L02 Disciple Preparation Plan Submission." Use the arrows on the right to navigate to that page. This semester I would like to do more selfless acts for others. Christ has inspired me, through my recent readings of the New Testament. Lesson 3 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends:John 15:13;
This verse is important to me because it shows that Christ was ultimate in his love.
This semester I would like to perform at least three larger scale acts of service around campus and my home town. These will be as follows:
Volunteering ten hours at my local museum.
Donating blood at my local blood drive.
Performing a random service for my visiting teaching girls.
Lesson 4
John 21:15–17)) Peter, lovest thou me more than these? Feed my sheep: (John
After coming across this verse in my readings this morning I felt that I should focus on one my projects that I outlined in this Disciple Project. I called up my museum from home and asked them if they needed any help with any new projects. They said they needed some transcribers for a new set of life histories they had received. I said send me one and they did. I have begun it, but will continue to work on it the next couple of weeks.
This is just the beginning but I feel I have made progress already.
Lesson 5
After prayer this morning I worked on my museum project and felt great about it. I’m about a quarter way through a man’s life story and feel great that I have this wonderful privilege. He talks about the church quite often and I sometimes write down what he writes in my journal in regards to the gospel. His life was so long ago, yet what he is saying feels so relevant to today’s problems.
I like the method I have been using to track how far I am with my discipleship progress. It’s very neat, which I can work with.
So far so good.
Lesson 6
I’ve hit a roadbump. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to find time to work on my project seeing as I have test after test in my other classes. This is a test, seeing as this is a discipleship project and the disciples had to endure many tests but I’m hoping I can carve out some time in the morning tomorrow. If I do have enough time I will get another 25% done and will feel pretty accomplished.
“Like Paul, we can find positive meaning in weaknesses that are not taken away. Surely nothing is quite as humbling as having a weakness that we cannot overcome but must continue to struggle with throughout our life. Such a weakness teaches us, in a very personal way, that after all we can do we must rely on the grace of Christ to make up the difference.”

“As we humbly submit our will to the Lord’s, we find that our weaknesses can indeed become sources of strength if we put our trust in Him.”
—Anne C. Pingree, “Making Weak Things Become Strong,” Ensign, Dec. 2004, 30
Lesson 7 After getting to the middle mark of my last project I decided to take a break and work on the next one, which was to donate blood. I asked around and ended up taking my friend Andee with me to go since she is a nurse and we both have viable blood types. It was nerve wracking at first but as soon as it was done we were happy we did it. I will continue with my museum project next week, which so far is going great. Lately my prayers have been a lot more sincere, which is probably due partly to this project. Throughout this week a quote from Joseph Smith has held with me;
“It is a duty which every Saint ought to render to his brethren freely—to always love them, and ever succor them.” —Joseph Smith, in H istory of the Church, 2:229
Lessons 8-10
It took a few weeks more than I wanted it to but I finally finished my project for the museum. It was sad to say goodbye to my project and send it back to the museum because it was like saying goodbye to a friend that I could just sit and listen to. I was happy to finish it because it meant one more history for Teton Valley, which is always nice to share.
What scriptures and teachings of living prophets have been helpful to you in your efforts to change or improve? One talk that I enjoyed was one title Perseverance by James E. Faust. In it he talked about what going on a mission takes, and reading it I realized it’s very similar to what it takes to complete an education. I simply just replaced the word mission with education. Here he states: “A young man recently shared with me how much he had learned from his perseverance as a missionary. I draw from his experience some of the things you can learn that would bring opportunities and blessings to you: 1. How to organize and use time wisely 2. The importance of hard work—that you reap what you sow 3. Leadership skills 4. People skills
5. The value of gospel study
6. Respect for authority
7. The importance of prayer
8. Humility and dependence on the Lord1 https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2005/04/perseverance?lang=eng
Describe specific efforts you have made to bring about the change or improvement you desire; I have tried my best to make a change in myself concerning giving myself over to what needs done over what I want to get done (or waste my time doing.) Briefly describe the tracking method you are using. How successful do you feel your action steps have been in helping you reach your goal? I have completed my second, out of three, goals in respect to my progression. This means I am 2/3rds of the way done, which seems like a pretty easy way to keep track of where I am. I already feel 2/3rds of the way better than I previously did upon deciding what my goal was going to be. Provide an honest assessment of the progress you have made in achieving your desired change or improvement (i.e., How have you grown? How have you improved as a disciple of Christ? How have you been blessed as a result of your efforts to apply eternal truths?). I have a lot more energy knowing what the end consequences of good actions can be. I wanted to be the kind of person that is described in this verse: “ they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: Matt. 5:6 .” I wanted to hunger and thirst after it because I knew what the positive consequences would be, not just because I would get praise for it. I feel blessed already for this pursuit, not in the ability of others to bless me but for my ability to bless myself.
Lesson14 Lesson14
What I have learned this semester is that patience and hardwork are cliched, but completely useful ways to become closer to Christ and closer to the work that you need to be doing. Discipleship isn’t just something that you can do in your spare time. It takes patience and hard work, and what most people don’t realize is that it is more than just a way of life, it’s a way of being. The Savior taught many things
on this Earth in his time here, but my favorite lesson of his is to Love One Another. By doing his work I can accomplish this seemingly insurmountable feat of superhuman strength and will. ...
