Jay Humphreys Documentary treatmentMy film will be called “Gluten”. The film will follow someone who suffers from a gluten allergy, throughout their day. We will get to see and understand the challenges they face through questions they will be asked during the film. These questions will allow the audience to understand what happens if the subject eats gluten, how careful the subject has to be in public, what gluten free food is like, if they think there is enough choice and awareness and the reaction they get from the public. We will see the subject shopping, at home making food and at a restaurant, ordering food and making sure the workers know they have an allergy and how serious it is. The aim is for the audience to be informed about gluten intolerance. I want the audience to fully understand how serious food allergies are and how daunting it can be for sufferers to be out in public. It will also allow people to realise that even a small amount of gluten can cause sufferers serious problems. The film will be very informative of the allergy and will give insights into how sufferers live and cope with the illness. The vision I have for the film is for it to be an observational documentary, simply just having the camera follow the subject to see what they do and say and throughout this style, I will ask a few questions to the subject to really advance the message I want the film to portray. The viewer will be left to understand how hard living with a food allergy is and why being so ignorant towards these allergies causes sufferers mental health to struggle. After watching my film, I want the audience to avoid this ignorance and help sufferers....
