Information about the May, 2015 Final Exam

Content: The exam will cover all course materials from this semester only, including all section materials, course readings, problem sets, problem set readings, coursewide lectures, and textbook chapters. The exam is cumulative and will cover material in a manner proportional to time spent on it in section. Therefore, for example, half of the exam will NOT be on the Phillips Curve! In the Mankiw text, you are responsible for Chapters 23-36. Reading questions will once again resemble those from problem sets (or now from the two semester exams) – namely, asking you to apply some part of a reading to a concept from the course. Many of you have already asked about the extent to which the fall semester of microeconomics is on this exam. Well, yes, you need to know supply and demand and price pressures associated with those forces. However, it’s extremely doubtful you’ll be given a diagram and asked to identify the area of DWL. The exam will consist of 180 minutes of questions. The first 60 minutes of the exam will be 40 multiplechoice questions, followed by 120 minutes of problems and questions to be completed in FOUR bluebooks. Thus, the four bluebook questions will be 30 minutes each in length on average. Your sectionleader does not know any more about the exam than is written here, so please do not ask him or her for details about the exam. Basic important rules:    

For multiple-choice questions: fill in the bubbles on your answer sheet using a pencil. No calculators are allowed for use on the exam. No notes and papers are allowed for use on the exam. All your books, notes, and papers must be put away before the exam starts. No communication is permitted between students during an exam.

Violation of the examination rules or dishonesty in an examination will result in disciplinary action. Procedure: The exam will be given at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11th. You have been assigned an exam room based on the first letter of YOUR last name. Exam room assignments are posted on the Registrar’s web page: http://static.fas.harvard.edu/registrar/academic_planning/exam%20schedules%201415/Spring%202015/exam%20schedule.pdf...
