Description

INNERCON CONSTRUCTION Drywall & Electrical Contracting

Dear all,

I am the owner of Innercon Construction and this communications brief is to all Inncercon Construction employees. It has come to my attention that there are not enough supplies at job sites nor are the supplies getting to the job sites quick enough, jobs are not being completed properly and on time, and I am receiving a series of complaints about employees not working collectively as a group or not working at all. As I write this communication brief, I will be implementing solutions that will fulfil the task, social and innovation communication aspects of this company to ensure its success. That said, I have decided to designate two employees to pick up materials and to bring them to the different job sites that we are running around the Greater Toronto Area. By doing so, it will resolve the innovation communication content issue that the Innercon Construction company is faced with, as it will enable our organization’s employees to always have the supplies that they need to complete the project at hand. To conquer the task communication-related issues, I have decided to assign new coming employees to more experienced employees. This will allow for the newer employee to learn more efficiently and become proficient in the field while the job at hand is still being completed effectively and on time. To address the social communication issues within the company, I will be appointing a handful of employees that will be assigned a job site and will conduct reports on the progress of the project, the performance of employees and as well as any further altercations that need to be made to guarantee that the company is being properly conducted. I hope this communications brief finds you well.

Sincerely,

Alessia DeSantis 1048247 University of Guelph Professor S. Brown EDRD 3140

Analysis: On a day-to-day basis, the company presented above communicates task communication content the most and innovation communication content the least. Construction is such a huge industry that it will never run out of new candidates for work, but can also become a sink or swim situation for many new individuals. Many of the project’s construction companies commit to, tend to be on a time schedule and it is hard for new employees to be properly taught the ins and outs of construction. That said, this can lead to future jobs not meeting their deadline or not being done properly. Therefore, task communication is the company’s main source of communication needed to ensure that new employees learn and perform to the best of their ability. Innovation communication is used the least due to construction obtaining a basic foundation toward how a company should run their business. Although each construction company differs, they all conduct themselves in the same way and only require very few changes if absolutely needed. For my innovation communication solution, possible obstacles that could emerge from the solutions that I have listed could be that certain employees do not own a vehicle or if they do, the vehicles that they own will not fit the amount of material needed for the job site. For my task communication solution, an issue that may are may be that newer employees may not listen to the experienced employee that they are grouped with and that both employees may not get along or work well together. For my social communication solution, a possible obstacle could be that a report may never be submitted or that a situation between workers may not be documented properly. Construction Innercon is a flat organization. I do think that many challenges have arisen within our business as a result of being a flat company. There are altercations between new hires and more seasoned employees, because a small hierarchical pyramid exists. While Inncercon Construction is based on a sense of community and unity, not having clear job rankings can contribute to the mistreatment of new employees by more experienced employees, as well as not listening to the orders of more experienced employees by new employees, due to the lack of the sense of authority that a major corporation with a tall organizational structure may receive. We have a community in the Innercon Construction business that is friendly, diverse and hard-working. We make sure our workers and customers feel at home, get the ultimate work experience and are pleased with their finished product. Throughout my communications brief,

this is seen, as I ensure that the improvements made to our business support both our workers, our customers and our industry's overall environment. I believe that a written communication brief was the most effective way to address the issues that occurred within the Innercon Construction company. Throughout this brief, I was able to identify the exact concerns this company was faced with and the remedies required to further develop its functionality. I was able to accurately and precisely articulate the changes of the company in a professional manner that was accessible to all working employees of Innercon Construction....
