Faiza Mah Professor McCann THEO 101 December 4, 2019 why are white moderates being the greatest threat than the racist in the king’s view? Martin Luther King Jr makes the argument that white moderate were the threat to the black people freedom because they did not take action to stand with justice. Many white moderates claimed that they were on side equal rights, but they never speak up to stop the discrimination acts. As Dr King wrote in his letter, “[ white moderates] is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace” (King 2). Here, we first see that white moderate were to focus on order rather then making justice which showcases that the don’t want to speak up on things that might interrupt their lives. Dr King even described them as “negative peace” because many of them stayed quite and went on with their life like nothing was wrong and that lead to absence the presence of justice. Dr king also point out that white moderate had, “Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will.” (King 2). Many White moderate said that they there were against inequality towered black people, but many of they don’t understand what it means or what it takes to get there which makes theme threat because they’re not taking no side. Lastly many white moderate “believed [ that they] can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." (King 3). Many white moderates didn’t get the struggle that many black people. There is no “more convenient season” for fighting against unjust. And no human begins have the right to tell some to wait form their freedom so therefore the white moderate

were danger toward the civil right moment. However, its sad to say that even after 51 years we still see white moderate in our society today specially with our current president. May white

moderate didn’t say anything about his curl words toward certain ethnic group. I felt frustrated that many whit people said that the want equal rights for everyone, but they did do anything to stop him so instead they just want with their daily life like nothing happed. I do agree with Dr king points because its frustrating think that group of people are in your side, but when it comes time to act the don’t show their support anymore....
